Americans middle of good/bad travellers, French place last

odd news link
I wanted everyone to know I am shocked, shocked to find that the French place so far down the list.

But I am also greatly amused by it. I am also not at all surprised that Americans place around the middle, nor that Japanese are first.

And we Canadians are up there with the Brits and … Germans? Wait, they have better beer and louder techno than us. They should be commensurately more obnoxious.

Ich witz, ich witz.

Actually, the Chinese were last. I believe the French were last among European vacationers.

Having lived in Los Angeles all my life, I hate all tourists equally.

So the Germans, Americans, and British were up there in the top of the list? I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that only hotel employees in Germany, the U.K., Italy, France, Canada and the U.S. were polled. :dubious: I am highly dubious about the methodology of this survey but carry on with the bashing of the French!

I suspect hotel employees in, say, Majorca or Tijuana might have ranked people differently…

What are you implying dear sir? That the dear visitors visiting the posh places of Majorca might misbehave!

I do beg your pardon

This thing needs to be normalised by what proportion of the various nationalities travel outside their own borders. The French, Italians and Spanish are not particularly noted for doing so. One might ask “who can blame them?”, but it’s worth bearing in mind.

They sure come here (as well as the americans, english, germans, japanese…). But the only offensive thing any of them do is to dress for a hike in the higlands when they’re walking down-town

Sure does look funny considering most people actually pay pretty much attention to how they look when out of the house.
