I have not been to Sydney specifically, but elsewhere in Australia I found the food nicely prepared, the portions smaller that many American uberservings, and the service excellent (pleasant, but without the hyper-friendly “Hi, my name is …” service we can get here in the U.S.)
The Aussies I hang out with here call fries fries, except in the context of fish and chips. However that could be due to the influence of the many Americans they work with, or are speaking like that only when an American is present, or simply because in China, using English, they’re called fries (except in the context of fish and chips).
Likewise Dros seems to be in a similar vein, at least the bar side of Dros. The restaurant proper always feels kind of like a cafeteria.
Thanks for all of the replies. They are greatly appreciated. One follow up question, since some of the food is English based, is Yorkshire pudding available or common there? I’ve always wanted to try it but have never seen it on a menu.
I can’t guarantee for Sydney specifically, but in Australia in general Yorkshire Puddings are not a thing. I think I’ve seen them on a menu maybe once in the last 4-5 years. I think your best bet would be to find an actual British themed restaurant. I believe there are a couple in Sydney, but I’ve never been to one there myself.

No. It’s not that English based.
Even the standard fare borrow more now from Italian than English, but most dishes have been through the multi cultural blender. You won’t find anything resembling traditional English fare unless you find an English theme pub.
I like split pea soup, if it’s anything like that, I’d probably enjoy it. A lot of those pictures also show a red drizzle on them. What is it?
If you Google “Yorkshire pudding Sydney” you’ll find recommendations of places that serve them. I had never tried them until I hooked up with a Pommy expat (Yorkshire pud verdict: very enjoyable).
If the peas get too much, flee to Victoria. I don’t find them popping up unexpectedly in random dishes here
The red drizzle is tomato sauce (essentially ketchup, but subtle flavour difference).
It is unAustralian to serve a pie without sauce.
Don’t travel across the world to potentially look for a place to order it. Just make it yourself. http://www.food.com/recipe/gordon-ramsays-yorkshire-pudding-424498
Actually, I’ve considered trying it but I never have beef drippings on hand and ISTM that if I made it with oil, it would just be kind of blah. What do you think?
