Did anyone else see the news about the NYPD and the FDNY mixing it up? No link yet. It just happened.
O.K., I know a lot of you are still feeling sensitive and patriotic and such, but geez was it kinda nice to see buisness as usual in NY.
[sup]Not that the police dept and the fire dept usually start beating the crap out of each other on a regular basis, but gosh that tickled my nasty funny bone.
I caught the tail end of a CNN report with Rudy’s statement about why he wanted to limit the number of people working on the site and how the firefighters didn’t much appreciate being told some of them couldn’t go in.
Did no one tell them beforehand, or did they find out when they showed up? No wonder they were pissed.
The mayor decided to limit the number of firemen. The police tried to remove some firemen. Fisticuffs ensued.

No where near as funny as the news clip I saw. Inner-city agencies at each other’s throats. Things are getting back to normal here, thank the IPU.
God, I love New Yorkers. Cantankerous lot.
I was getting really sick of the lovey-dovey crap too. I heard about it on NPR today, and I got all misty-eyed. We’re finally back to “business as usual,” eh?
[Ed Koch voice] What do I think? I, uuhh, think it’s, uhh, ridiculous. Just ridiculous. If the, uhh, police department and the fire, uuhh, department can’t get along, then someone has to, uhh, step in. And Rudy Giuliani is not a nice man. I, uh, think he’s a good, uuhh, mayor. But he’s, uhh, not a nice person. Not a nice person at all. I tried to be, uh, both a good, uuh, mayor and a nice, uhh, person. And, uhh, that’s all I have to, uuhh, say. How’m I doin’?
