Amster-Dopers -- I'm headed your way!

Heh, just been a little busy, is all.

We have recently moved from Amsterdam to a town nearby. Suburbian life, if you will. Would love to get together, but we have an out-of-town party on the 28th. So, if you’re interested in meeting up for coffee or something, it would have to be in the early afternoon.

Let me know what your plans are, we’ll see what we can arrange!

Great – hope we can work something out! Saturday is “my” day after the business trip is officially over, so I can do whatever whenever. I’ll post in a day or two after I get there and have a better idea what’s going on – but basically I’m not going to be online much, so email – which I’ll be checking once a day – is probably a more reliable way to touch base.

Thanks, all! Yurp, here I come!

You and me, both, girl. I just got back last week from Amsterdam with the family. The famed red light district and coffee houses are a bit pointless when you’re toting around kids and mother-in-law and suchlike.

Greetings from Haarlem – Got here safe and sound and am having a great time. Got into Amsterdam yesterday and did the museum thing – and would love to just walk around and look at stuff on Saturday, if anyone is interested in meeting me. I’m thinking of the area (New City?) slightly southwest of the train station – the Dam etc. – maybe down to the Blommarket (sp?), which we may or may not get to before then … any takers?

Welcome to the Netherlands ! You sure have brought fine weather for strolling around outside. I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it to Amsterdam, though.
If you’re going to look around on Saturday, be prepared for dense, dense crowds. Saturday is the Dutch day for shopping. The streets will be packed. But don’t let that stop you. Everything around the Amsterdam Central Trainstation is good for walks.
As a starting point, you might want to stop by the VVV, the official Tourist Office. It is located in a cute white floating old-looking building just outside the Amsterdam Central Trainstation. They will probably sell leaflets with walks, maybe even audiotours, for the best Amsterdam citywalks.
Here’s their site, but that only links to guided tours with a set timetable which might not fit yours.

Enjoy !
