an accident waiting to happen

Dear Mr Motorcycle Man

It’s been a while since I have seen you but the last few days I have had the misfortune to have crossed your path
multiple times

You scare the hell out of me

It’s not enough that you blow past me and I never see you coming
I’m already doing 65 to 70 myself so who am I to talk about speeding?
But you have to be doing 90
or more

I almost cut you off yesterday because I looked to change lanes and it was clear and then all of a sudden, there you were

its not enough that you are so quick

but do you have to do it on one wheel?

I’ve seen you over and over
driving miles in a wheelie
and I wish you would stop
because I know one day you are going to lose your balance
or hit a slippery spot
or a deer, or fox, or rabbit will run out in front of you

One night I almost got you
I didn’t see you coming
How could I when your headlight is pointing up instead of forward?
It was only by seeing a flash of metal that I realized something was coming up beside me even though I had no idea what it was

Common sense would tell you that riding in a wheelie at night makes you invisible
Then again common sense is probably not your strong point

Of course it’s not my business if you want to take risks
It’s not my business if you end up killing yourself
But I’d prefer not to see it
And I’d really rather not be a part of it
I think you are very selfish and inconsiderate to the others on the road
because one day somebody won’t see you coming
and will cut you off or run into you
and they will have to deal with the consequences of your actions

You’re not cool
you’re not impressive
You’re just stupid

Next time just call 911. wheelies on the freeway are illegal, as far as I know, everywhere. If you can get his plate. If not just tell the operator where at what time. they can extrapolate from there.

Holy crap!! Where’s Darwin when you need him??

As fast he he drives, even when he has two wheels on the ground I’d never get his tag number.

I’ve seen him three times in the last week, I hadn’t seen him for a while though so I thought maybe he’d either gotten hurt or stopped.

Likely both.

Here’s a happy thought for you - if you do hit him, who’s going to believe you that he was pulling a wheelie?

Waiting impatiently and probably not for long. Best hope is the guy doesn’t take out anyone else when he goes. As he will.

Speaking as a motorcycle rider, (since 1976) this is obviously an IDIOT, with a ‘death wish’!
And you are correct, (he/she?) IT, is an “accident waiting to happen”!

We can only hope that it has ageed to be an organ donor and signed the back of it’s drivers license, acknowledging this. :frowning:

(bolding mine)

True THAT! I’ve seen (and know from first hand experience) what a motorcycle (and it’s rider) impacting a vehicle can do!
It ain’t pretty!

All the OP can really do is know that someone is driving unsafe on her same commute and time frame.
The OP could leave earlier and drive slower in the far right lane & hope to not see the leather-jacket taco salad with teeth & hair thats bound to get made fresh soon. :frowning:

As cold as it sounds, I don’t know how guilty I would feel if I was the one to hit him.
I’d be more upset over the legal trouble.
I’m sure as much as I’ve seen him lately others have too so there should be proof that he drives this way.

Last night I took a different way home so I could avoid the highway and this morning is my last trip to that job for a while.

Would there be any usable donor organs left?
How can he? see at night driving like that? The highway has street lights but it’s still pretty dark and it’s almost all woods down the end where I usually see him.

When I underwent M/C safety training, they said that fatal accidents frequented those with:

  1. < 25 yrs. old
  2. No helmet
  3. Speeding.

They pretty much cured the helmet issue with laws requiring them. It’s the third thing on that list is the mistake most of the deceased riders made. It’s too bad they don’t realize that until it’s too late. It sounds like the OP’s target hasn’t got the message re: speeding. Too bad.

Oh, yes. In fact in the medical community they are called “donor cycles.” Kidneys are well protected as is the liver. Heart and lungs may or may not be retrievable. It’s usually a broken neck or head injury that takes them out.

He can’t see, even in the daylight. There’s a video on Right This Minute that shows a cyclist on a track with a helmet cam doing a wheelie who runs into his buddy. All the helmet cam could see was the gas tank.

As a fairly experienced rider, seeing that sort of stuff makes me want to catch up with them at a stoplight and bitchslap them. Flipping idiots like that make all the rest of us look bad. Those accidents waiting to happen are the reason that people hate all bikers, even though many of us are safe riders.

This is exactly why you should call 911 every time you see him. If enough people do, maybe the cops will be able to anticipate him.

Around here such people are often called “temporary Australians”.

I thought at the speed he goes he will be just a splat on the road. Then again he could go off into the woods and nobody would know he was there.

I don’t hate bikers, I try to give y’all plenty of room though.

I try to keep track of everybody around me anyway but bikes especially because
they are smaller and harder to see.

He really upsets me, probably more than he should.

I’ll start calling 911 but being that this is a small town I suspect the cops already know about him. It’s just a matter of catching him.

Iknowwhatchamean!

I had two guys pass me on the freeway and I was moving at a pretty good clip as usual.
One was standing astride his bike gliding on the soles of his shoes while passing me. I don’t have any idea how something like that can be accomplished.

His friend was standing on the seat- one leg up and trailing behind him with both hands on the handlebars.

I guess I don’t really mind so much if they want to kill themselves, but I do resent them potentially trying to involve me it the event.
