The Rescues came out of the same L.A. scene as Katy Perry (styistically they’re so different I know it’s hard believe, but yeah pre-famous Katy Perry was doing the small clubs right alongside these guys).
Katy Perry and The Rescues keyboard player Gabriel Mann did a “Christians vs Jews Holiday Show” at The Mint in L.A. several years ago.
So I think this cover of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” is less of a tongue-in-cheek kind of thing and more of a “Our Friend’s Doing Well for Herself, Cheers!” kind of a thing.
