Story here. The old royal capital of Luang Prabang.
I’m glad we saw it years ago before it became too spoiled. Back then, we stayed upstairs in an old Sino-Portuguese mansion formerly occupied by a French merchant, converted into a hotel. Right on the Mekong. We had a lovely view of the river, and the town was rather peaceful. We certainly never saw anything like what’s depicted in the photograph that goes with the linked story above.
