He’s hoping independents and disaffected Republicans will back him up. Here’s hoping he Al least bleeds votes from Perry.
I don’t think Eisenhower himself could win a Republican primary.
Dwight Eisenhower running for office today would be branded a flaming liberal and a socialist for being interested in civil rights and national infrastructure. Nixon would probably be considered a ‘Marxist’ for imposing wage and price controls.
Stranger
What % of the vote would he need to at least convince moderates the tide is turning?
Independents can’t vote in the 2024 primaries in PA so Perry is in pretty good shape in a primary. This area in PA around Hershey and Harrisburg is not going to be a solidly pro-MAGA in the party, if this challenger has money and support from some local GOP leadership he might have a chance, but I doubt Perry would still be there if the leadership wasn’t solidly behind him. It’s a party matter in a closed primary, the result is the decision the party has already made.
As a former Republican, I might do just what he is asking if I was in his district (change registration back to vote for him).
News earlier this month concerning the same race:
But the guys he fought in WWII probably could.
Wait, you think today’s Republicans rate the candidates on the basis of policy?
OK, boomer.
(I love finally getting an excuse to say that at my age.)
