There is theatre here. You can see shows that haven’t hit London yet, especially recommended are Avenue Q and Wicked.
Well, first off, it will take a bit to get use to wearing high heels.
Welcome over here and congrats on the new job!
The notion of what Americans consider beer should disturb you even more. Whenever I feel the need for a beer, I either go to DBA (41 First Ave) or the Ginger Man. Otherwise I drink rum or martinis.
Your electrical appliances won’t work without power converters, but if you’ve got them, go ahead and move 'em. Same goes for DVDs with regions built in.
Having jumped into Manhattan with both feet myself, it’s not that hard-- lots of people here are from somewhere else, and you will be able to find bars with a footie match going on.
Only electric thing i’ll be bringing over is my laptop. I’m guessing i can pick up a power converter for that pretty cheap.
On every laptop I’ve ever owned it’s just been a matter of changing the plug. This usually plugs into the transformer and can be swapped out fairly easily. And check your email, dude, we’ve worlds to conquer.
Quick question: Why? The crime rate in New York is sliding to a 35-year low, with 132,584 major felonies last year (through the end of November), leaving a rate per 100,000 of about 1,800*. My metro area, which is defined by many (for reasons not clear to me) as a good place to live and raise a kid, has a major felony rate of ~5,414 per 100,000. So why would you recommend that he carry pepper spray everywhere he goes in NY? I’ve never felt in danger when I was in the city, especially not in freakin’ Chelsea.
*132,584 / 7,500,000 * 100,000 (crimes / approx pop * 100,000)
