If only his mind had been turned towards larger scale evil. Imagine his fortress of horrors staffed by deadly automata and each hall way loaded with traps.

And I thought hiring H.R. Giger to build a nursery/playroom was going to be original enough…now I’ll have to start my planning all over?

Ranchoth
(“The 12 Apostles are ready to work on the pebbles.”?")

Maybe he placed a trap outside, possibly along a garden walkway? Pebbles, stones, gravel, that sort of thing. Didn’t the Apostles wander about the Old Wrold spreading JC’s message? The way to God, or the path to God?

This is my favorite line in the article:

The notes that he had remind me of Henry Jones from the “Indiana Jones” movies. When I read that bit about the 12 Apostles, the first thing that popped into my head was “only the penitant man will pass”.

I love when life imitates art. And it has given me wonderful ideas about a trapped house for my D&D game.

This man has done the world a great service both in his macabre inginuity and in his death.

It, um, reminded me of the Crypt of Riddles module series for AD&D Neverwinter Nights. :o

I guess if this was a younger man, it’d only be a matter of time before some media people tried to connect it to Myst/7th Guest/11th Hour, and similar games.

You know ‘Louis Dethy’ is really ‘Henry Stauf’ when translated from the original French, right?

lno - Huh?

And you’ve never experienced Shakespeare until you’ve read it in the original Klingon.

He was a gradute of Transylvania Polygnostic University, whose motto is Teneo Satis Vereor, or “Know Enough To Be Afraid”.

Courses in Death Ray Physics & Killer Steambot Construction are offered.

Is MacGuyver one of his kids?

People, I can’t stress this enough. There are too many booby-traps out there that are just plain unsafe.

Spoiling the joke - Henry Stauf was the antagonist from the computer games 7th Guest and 11th Hour. He was a deranged toymaker who (if I recall correctly) made toys that spread a mysterious plague among the children of the town, and after his death, his mansion was haunted, and filled with horrible toy puzzles that had similarly-cryptic clues. The object of those games were to solve the puzzles as you work your way through the mansion, and various ghosts and other discoveries would reveal what horrors had occurred there.

I prefer the booby-traps made by Playtex.

finally a murder-suicide where the scum did it in the other order.

That’s what you get when you buy your booby traps from Acme.

He wasn’t an evil genius. Where’s the shark tank or the molten lava or any original way of killing people?
