Ok, Googling has educated me that you can enter unique character codes (ASCII) by holding alt + XXXX (I knew I could do that, I just never knew what it was called). But “source code” has still got me, not sure what the enter in the URL…
…and I’ll stop updating y’all with my struggles now. Thanks for the distraction from work!
Yeah, one thing I didn’t like about that puzzle was that you do need to be very computer-savvy. And it requires the use of several external applications, as well.
The good thing is that hints or solutions for most of the levels are available on Google.
The only problem with using google for the answers is that in the forum there they mentioned something about cheating. So they changed some of the puzzles around so the answers that are out there now may be wrong. I’ve been using google to try to get more hints. The ones they give are really vague.
For number 6:
If you highlight the page, then you’ll see some number’s on the page. Those are the ascII numbers. You can look them up, but I’ll just tell you what I got.
Don’t read on if you just wanted a hint.
The first one is “LILK” and the second is “UORH”, they are anagrams. The first is ‘kill’ and the second ‘hour’. No caps when entering them in the field thingy.
I thought it was an alt thing too, specifically the cent sign because that’s the first page where they have that google means three cents thingy.
For number five:
Put the angel lyric reference into google to get the name of a song. It’s by the band that’s named on that DVD/CD cover.
I’m on number eight and it’s driving me nuts. It seems like there’s too many hints for what the actual answer is. Like number 6 above. The source code doesn’t come into play on that one, yet it’s hinted that it does. I couldn’t find the connection, at least.
I’ve switched over to IE because in the hint forum one user mentioned something about downloading a file for number eight, but nothing was prompted. No google bar either. So, I’ll have it going in both IE and Firefox.
It’s damn frusterating, and addictive. Sorry about the spelling errors, I want to get back to this!
But there’s only one jpeg, and it doesn’t seem to contain any useful info. Are there any other files in the source code? Maybe we should look at the background music.
I don’t see anything if I highlight the page (for puzzle 6. Apparently, you use the same trick to solve puzzle 5, but I just saved the picture and inverted it in photoshop to read the dark writing on the desk.)
There’s no numbers anywhere. All that happens is my picture turns gray.
I’m stuck on level eight, but I’m very close to getting it.
I’ve downloaded the music files and changed the one to jpg and opened it. I see the message name: inverted password: levelten. Aah, but what to make of it! I’m not sure. Can anyone help?
Well, it looks like a Twix, but whether you put it in forwards or backwards in the URL, it isn’t a Twix. I finally found the answer by Googling some other hints website, but I still have no idea what the answer refers to. Was there a Raider candy bar? If so, why can’t I find a picture of it anywhere on the web?
“Raider” was the Twix candy bar’s old name in Germany, before it was changed in 1991. Hence the “Times have changed in Deutschland” quote in the HTML source. For more information, see this.
Is there only one jpeg image to find? I know there was an .avi movie in there too which I downloaded but couldn’t get to work. I thought I was supposed to change the filename to that one as well, but it didn’t work for me. Anyway, is all the information I need that name: inverted password: levelten? I tried username as netlevel and password as levelten, which obviously wasn’t right. I think I tried a few other combinations from that one jpeg I found, but nothing worked for me, so if it is all written out, I’m not seeing it.
