… keeps appearing on my machine at the top. It’s from 2012 and its subject line is “I Keep Getting Google Chrome Didn’t Shut Down Properly”.
I get that same thing periodically, but this is the thread from 2012. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling Chrome, but nothing seems to work. Below is the data from my Dell Optiplex 760 (yeah, I know — it’s a very old machine
). Maybe you have had the same problem?
Thanks

I don’t know the answer to your question, but I really doubt that it ties in to the timings on your RAM or the feature size on your CPU die.
So you’re saying the problem could be tied to the monitor’s refresh rate.
Are you subscribed to the group this message is coming from? If so maybe unsubscribing would make it go away.
Here’s some additional information.
- Here is the thread that keeps showing on my address bar:

I bought this computer used from a shop, but they tell me they wiped the hard drive. When I got it home and booted up, I saw that the log on name was “Owner”.
-
I checked, and I am not subscribed; but now I’m wondering if the previous owner was
-
Since I’m not too “tech savvy” (I’m 67 with memory problems - my own not the computer’s), I just copy the information from Speccy and post it along with my question, so I have no idea if the problem is tied to my monitor’s refresh rate, sorry.
I hope this helps you to help me, and I really appreciate your expertise and time.

I don’t use Chrome so I can’t tell you the exact steps, but you need to clear your history. If these instructions from 2012 are still accurate, you need to:
Start Google Chrome. To access the browsing information you need to click on the icon that looks like three vertical bars in the top right hand corner. In the menu that appears navigate to the “History” option. This will open the “History” tab, from here you need to click on the “Clear all browsing data…” option.
(If that doesn’t work, something else in the Google link might help you.)
I don’t use Google Chrome, but could the Google Groups post be set as your home page? I know that would cause what you talk about if you were running Firefox.
If you navigate to some other known page, CNN.COM for example, and then hit the Home Page icon in your browser, does it take you back to the google groups post?
That worked, Lips! Thank you, thank you and thank you!
What I missed was a section which three options one of which was “open to a specific page”. I then deleted that link and it hasn’t shown anymore.
Thanks also to everyone who helped with your replies and advice!
