An open letter to Kobe....

http://asia.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=sportsNews&storyID=3118876

Kobe, you motherfucker.

I do not watch basketball…don’t like it. I do not know who most of the players are, short of the usual suspects that apparently have more talent than most players. This being said, I’m pitting you as the piece of shit you are as a (I’m ashamed to say) member of the human race.

You had better spend the rest of your miserable life formulating the excuse you’re going to give your maker when you are asked WHY…sweet Jesus in stew…WHY you were so reckless with the life bestowed upon you. WHAT IN THE BLUE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING!!!

It isn’t just thumbing your nose in the face of being ALLOWED to make millions of dollars playing a game that is FUN…or the fact that you have made, by the age of 24, what most miserable saps will ever make in a lifetime of doing what they have to to get by, that should have kept your ass-nuzzling nose clean. It isn’t just that you have spent the last five years making a big deal about being a clean-cut guy who doesn’t carouse…and letting people who KNOW you back you up, thereby putting their own reputations on the line. It isn’t just that you have smeared your smegma upon the faith of people who looked up to you as a role model, or that you LIED when cornered and confronted with the evidence of your own misdeeds. It isn’t just that you have monumentally shattered the trust of your wife or the legacy you will leave to your new child.

I’d hoped you were clean. I’d hoped that you hadn’t done anything. I really wanted to see that you were being taken for a ride, and that sometimes, there really is a good guy who doesn’t give in to the pressure of fame and fortune. But the very most you could do when caught with irrefutable evidence of your actions was to finally, sheepishly admit that you weren’t clean, that you had committed adultery, and you hoped that YOUR God, and YOUR wife would forgive you.

Well, FUCK YOU.

You have ruined your family and your career. Take the life you got and give it to someone who deserves it, you assnugget. You have made an indelible stain on celebrity, sports, humanity, family, talent, and good fortune.

I do not know if you’re guilty of rape. I will never know. You’ve lied once about that night’s events, so it is impossible to speculate. This rage is not about that. This rage is about wagging your dick while doing the “I can get away with anything because I’m famous and have money” dance. This is about you pissing away a fabulous life you don’t deserve, all the while proclaiming how much better you are than your peers.

SHOVE IT UP YOUR SKINNY, GOOD FOR NOTHING, CUNTING ASS.

That is all.

Band name.

Either that or a town in England. I’m not sure which is better.

So yet another overpaid, under-educated sports star is proven to have let it all go to his head.

::yawn::

So what else is new?

I go for town in England. I like the sound of that. Would it be in Kent?

What the fuck is wrong with you people? Did you not read the article the man made a mistake and poured his heart out on national television apolgizing to his wife. There are thousands and thousands of adulturies in the U.S. that wouldn’t be man enough to say that to his wife in their own home let alone on national T.V. Yes he was wrong for being an adultur and he might be a rapist but the fact of the matter is we don’t know yet if he is and he deserves the benifit of the doubt like everyother person would get.

Nothing of this incident has the slightest bit to do with his basketball career why in the fuck do you relate the two? And becuase he is an incredibly gifted athlete he can’t make a mistake? Go fuck yourself.

The only reason he admitted to adultery is because they had DNA evidence. It would have been impossible for him to deny sexual contact. His lawyer probably told him it would be better for him to come out with that right away rather than have it be a surprise at the trial.

I don’t know if he’s guilty of rape, he may not be, but let’s not pretend that copping to the adultery was an act of personal courage. If there had been no DNA he never would have done it.

No, treis, YOU go fuck yourself.

When you follow your life to a certain prestige, you know the job is dangerous when you take it. You are put on a pedestal, and it is up to you to make it count. He didn’t. Yep, you’re absolutely right. There are gangs of adulterers roaming the streets; why am I so pissed that this one is doing it? I’m not. I’m not half as pissed about the actual adultery as I am about the lying to get out of it. When you are “regular people” and you lie to avoid getting caught in a situation like this…it is between you and your wife. When you spend five years making yourself out to be the squeakinest clean mofo in the industry…in front of people who buy your shit that’s when the fur starts flying.

AND. I’m not half as pissed still about the lie as I am about the inference that it is acceptable practice.

AND. I’m pissed, still, that it is acceptable under the “but I’m under sooooooooo much pressure” whine.

Generally, I’m cool with what everyday Joes wanna do with their lives…no skin off my nose. I’m not ok with perpetuating a lie in front of humanity in order to gain respect.

btw. I believe I specifically said that this is not about rape. I also didn’t specifically equate this with basketball…I called him out as a human being. That was in the beginning of the post.

Read, GODDAMNIT.

With the exception of the last 3 words, I agree.

I just watched his press conference for the 2nd time today. I don’t believe he is that good of an actor to have faked those emotions.

He is guilty of adultry. That’s all any of us can be sure of at this point.

And, IMHO, that really is between his wife and him and God to work out.

IF he is guilty, they need to send his stinking ass to prison. They need to start pulling in the reigns on these arrogant, overpaid criminals we call basketball stars. Do you folks remember the Sprewell case a couple years ago when he blatantly strangled his coach? That all got swept under the table with a “humble” apology. Let’s do an experiment, let’s all go to work Monday and strangle our bosses. You think any of us will get off the hook with a humble apology?

IF he is NOT guilty, then he is still an arrogant self serving prick for even getting involved with a situation like this.

wistful sigh

Man, what I wouldn’t give for a team where one of the players turning out to be a scumbag was actually surprising!

(Fucking Blazers!)

Let me get this straight.

Your pissed off that he projected a squeaky clean persona then made a mistake? So he lived his life for 5 years the same way most Americans do every day and now that he made a mistake you think that the previous 5 years were an act or something? And now that he did fuck up, apologized for it, and as far as I can tell owned up to it not lying as you claim which I would like to see a cite for, and now you are blasting him becuase you put him on some pedestal? He didn’t fucking climb up there himself, he is a psuedo god on the basketball court BUT HE IS A SIMPLE HUMAN OFF IT. As humans do he fucked up, apologized, and poured his out and you pit him? Give me a break

No, I’m afraid I sympathise with the OP here. Gazillion dollar, made celebrity tosses his (and his family’s, btw) credibilty in the can to seduce a 19 year old, living at home type of young person for a little debaucery. Poor, sweet, good-natured, enormously well-heeled (and married) Kobe. Whether he raped this individual or not he obviously missed the mark somewhere if they’re claiming an assault. The adultery is bad enough. What an idiot.

He doesn’t have to admit shit to anyone but his wife. Hell yes he lied to the press, i’d fucking lie too. No i take that back, i’d tell the press to go fuck themselves and that my personal life is my own god damn bussiness. You want to be mad at him, wait until he is convicted of rape. Its idiotic to be mad at someone for lying about something they shouldn’t have to answer in the first place. If he does get convicted of rape i hope they throw the Mike Tyson book at his ass, but until then he is just a guy who cheated on his wife like a million others.

“Made a mistake” doesn’t quite cover it. I think a “mistake” is choosing the wrong color tie. Or the wrong turn-off on the freeway. There are other “mistakes” that are of larger magnitude, and we all should be mindful of that, and offer some measure of sympathy and understanding.

However, what Kobe did was beyond a “mistake”. He built up this big image of himself, he KNEW better, and he KNEW he was in a unique position where all eyes would be on him. So what he did wasn’t just a “mistake”. It went into “mind-numbingly-assinine-STUPID” territory. Or, maybe it was “arrogant-my-shit-doesn’t-stink” territory. Or, perhaps it was “sexual predator” territory (we don’t know about that yet). But I think it’s a bit more than a mere “mistake”.

First off theendisnear pony up a cite if you’re going to accuse him of lying.

Yosemitebabe, Its stupid I agree but holding him to a higher moral standard than anyother human just becuase he can play basketball extremely well is ridiculus.

No. Just because someone claimed assault does NOT obviously mean he missed the mark anywhere. It’s up to the justice system to decide if the claim has any merit at all.

I Love Me, Vol. I, He missed the mark becuase as a married man he had some sort of sexual relation with this woman.

treis, I can call someone who KNOWS BETTER a flippin’ idiot. And what Kobe has done (at the very least, adultery) is mind-numbingly stupid. He knows who he is, he knows that his actions will be scrutinized, he knows he is vulnerable to such tempations, and he knows that if he is caught with his “pants down”, the price (publicity) to pay for his “mistake” is not going to be a private affair, it’s going to be in every newspaper. It’s also going to affect his career in a big way. He knows all this.

So what does he do? He puts himself in such a vulnerable position anyway. That’s a level of stupid that doesn’t come into play with your run-of-the-mill philanderer. They may also be mind-numbingly stupid when they stray (it depends on their circumstances) but unless they are a nationally famous basketball player who has built up a reputation for being squeaky-clean, the level of stupidity just doesn’t remotely compare.

Let the games begin.
I will pony up a cite in the morning about what he said the first time this was all brought to the attention of the press. (didn’t want you to think I’d forgotten about you, treis)
I will state AGAIN that I called him out as a human, not as a basketball player.
If you think that lying and cheating to the people who are closest to you is acceptable practice…nothing I can say to that, if you’re that far gone.
The press could go fuck themselves up until the point that his philandering got him in hot water CRIMINALLY.
