IIRC, it’s the carpal bones in the wrist (or the tarsal bones of the ankle. I’ve forgotten the exact names since school). What, you’ve never heard of “Never Lower Tillie’s Pants, Mother Might Come Home?”
My favorite, however, is “Oh, Oh, Oh, to touch and feel a girl’s vagina! Ah, heaven!” That one should be obvious, because it’s a known sequence.
Robin
For some reason, my first guess was carpal bones. After checking, I find I’m right
Scaphoid, Lunate, Triquetrum, Pisiform, Trapezium, Trapezoid, Capitate, Hamate
I’ll have to get back to you on another mnemonic, though…I only ever really took bone classes in college.
This mneumonic isn’t anatomy, but it is related to biology:
Ken Puts Cock On Fat Girl’s Stomach
Another version of this one goes something like: "On old Olympus’ towering top, a fat-assed German . . . [did something or other, I’ve forgotten. Must be my NERVES. . . A little help please?
I remember that being in some novel my mother once had; however, I forget the author and title. As I recall, one of the characters was discussing medical school mnemonics in a busy restaurant with her then-husband. I think it was the 12 optic nerves or something or other like that. (well, I rmeember it starting with an “o”) [so 12 optic nerves makes no sense to me at all, but this is the best I, as a non-science student, can do]
I really have no idea at all… If my foggy memory of the scene in the book proves correct (and no, I’m not going to look it up), I’ll be very surprised! The things you can learn from books… and that stick in your head waiting to be pulled out and used for moments such as this! Forgive me, I’m rambling again… much as usual.
Keep Pot Cold Or Forget Getting Stoned
From my seventh grade science teacher, way back when
Hey! Same as Pablito’s
Gotta pay attention to the thread…:o
and
Those are for the 7 taxonomic divisions; kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species.
That’s for the twelve cranial nerves.
That’s “On Old Olympus’ Towering Tops, A French And German Viewed Some Hops” for the cranial nerves. Unfortunately, it isn’t perfect…“And” is no longer the Auditory nerve, now it’s the Vestibulocochlear.
For the Classification, I used “Phoenix College’s Ornery Foxes Go Slowly.” That one’s my own.
Another one of mine: “Friends, Patriots, or Saints Elicit the News: Viewing Mom & Pop Making Love in Zoos.” Only the capital letters count. Any guesses?
Also-not anatomy, but a good one anyway: “How I want a drink! Alcoholic, of course, after the heavy chapters involving quantum mechanics.”
Any guesses?
The answer is “pi.” Count the number of letters in each word: How =3, I = 1 . . . and so on.
I ran across this thread when I was searching for any discussions about mnemonics, and I see a few of my favorites. I’m always on the look-out for easy ways to remember things that would otherwise require brute memory. Probably from my days taking zoology and anatomy classes. Some others:
Physics (I guess): Roy G. Biv
Biology: Leaping zebras pounce down drains.
There’s some others for memorizing the planets and presidents, but I don’t remember them. It’s getting to be pretty bad when I can’t even remember mnemonic devices.
Oh, and here’s another one. I remember the mnemonic, but for the life of me I can’t remember what it’s for. I learned it in molecular biology, if that’s a hint:
Egad, my tiger has cancer.
Kings play chess on Friday’s, generally speaking is how I learned Kingdom, Phylum, etc.
My Very Easy Method, Just Set Up Nine Planets
Roy G. Biv in physics? Hmm. I learned that from a kids book (The Westing Game, Or, the Tattooed Potato, maybe) and in art class.
um, that’s Fridays, not Friday’s. :smack:
Roy G. Biv is the colors of the visible spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. And no, you didn’t get that one from The Westing Game.
The one I learned for carpal bones is: Never lower Tillie’s pants, Grandma may come home.
Navicular, Lunate, Triquetrium, Pisiform, Greater Multangular, (Lesser) Multangular, Capitate, and Hamate
There’s also: Some Lovers Try Positions That They Cannot Handle
Scaphoid, Lunate, Triquetrium, Pisiform, Trapezium, Trapezoid, Capitate, and Hamate
The mnemonic is sorta, kinda, almost, in manner of speaking dealing with anatomy - though the answer is legal in nature. But I have actually found it helpful in everyday converstions which, I’m guessing, doesn’t happen often with carpal bone thingies.

“two zebras bite my clitoris”
This gem was shared with me by Mindy, a fellow med student, back in the day.
“Z” for zygoma, right Qadgop?
How about “Seven-up over Coke.”
