And Hell Week begins for bouv...

Well, I’m in the last week of pleding my Fraternity, and we all know what that means, Hell Week!

I get to spend the entire week at the frat house. I eat there, sleep there, study there, work there, etc… They take my key to my room, and my ID card so I can’t eat at the dining hall or get into my dorm. I have to wear a shirt and tie every day.

But, when it’s all over, I shall be initiated into the Fraternity and be a Brother, and it will all be worth it.

(I’m just glad that not only the college, but the Fraternity itself has an anti-hazing policy)

Good luck, bouv!

Which fraternity are you pledging?

Good luck. I’m guessing you’re a spring pledge, as all fall pledges here should have been initiated by GM Week. I must point out that I think all fraternities and colleges have an anti-hazing policy, and hazing still exists, even at this school. But I’m guessing that if you haven’t noticed by now, it won’t be all that bad. Be careful what you mention here, as New York state law defines pretty much every aspect of a pledge program to be hazing, if you read it strictly, from what I recall.

Incidentally, I’m in Chi Phi myself, and joining was definitely one of the best decisions I ever made. Then again, we never had any of that Hell Week stuff.

Yeah, technically having us wear our pledge pins is hazing, but I personally don’t consider it hazing. I’m pledging Alpha Chi Rho, Delta Phi chapter.

Well, I should go back to paying attention to physics right now, (yea Karen Cummings, you know what I’m talking about waterj2

Hi, bouv, from another Alpha Chi Rho. I’m a Phi Phi (Penn) class of 89. I’ve also been involved with the National (former National Treasurer) and I’m currently a trustee of the Educational Foundation.

I’ve met a bunch of RPI Crows over the year, and I think the chapter has consistently been one of our best. Their house (houses) setup is great.

Yes, Alpha Chi Rho is firmly against hazing. Do not do anything that you feel is offensive or degrading. If any hazing goes on, do not be afraid to stand up to it. The National does take strong action against chapters that haze.

Good luck with the next week, and look forward to initiation.
