And here's your Dec. rants thread - Merry Christbitchmas!

I am infertile and we adopted and I agree with him completely. Yes, it is not necessarily easy or cheap to adopt but neither is having a natural child. Why is everyone so hung up on biology?

It is a complete waste of resources to pay for infertility treatments when there are plenty of children out there who need homes.

(If you want to pay for infertility treatments out of pocket instead of for adoption, I have no problems with that.)

My rant 'n bitch isn’t even close to the same level as some of yours, but here goes:

To the punk-ass bitch who rifled through my Jeep and stole the coffee change out of my ashtray last night: Fuck You. Are you the same little shit that stole my husband’s car stereo this summer? Yes I leave my doors unlocked with nothing valuable inside my vehicle, simply because I KNOW you little assholes are breaking into vehicles and I’d rather you simply open the door than smash a window. And I knew it was only a matter of time before you got me too. Get a fucking job and earn your own spare change you useless piece of shit. Hopefully one day you’ll fuck with the wrong house and get your ass beaten by the person whose security you’re violating. Until then, enjoy my $4 in loonies and quarters, asswipe.

If infertility treatments were covered by insurance, would you have opted for your own children instead?

Mom-of-Andrew, awesome idea! Although not nearly as entertaining as sending them to Montana (or watching their faces as they try to back out of it). :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s amazing how little things (like having a stock answer for stoopit questions) helps, ain’t it?

Best wishes for you and yours.

Now, see, I wouldn’t have thought of that at all. Great answer.

The ideal person to give platelets has nice, big, easy-to-hit veins. Mine are thin, deep and they wiggle around when the needle gets close. I have to drink extra water and do calisthenics for a couple of days before donating whole blood or there’s about a one in three chance that they won’t be able to get make a good tap.

For platelets, they not only have to get the blood out, they have to get the serum back in. I’ve been told not to try it. In fact, before I started donating, I tried selling platelets, once. The company was advertising and dangling bonuses in a way that implied that they really, really needed more paid donors, and I was told to go away.

So they weren’t lying. They know their veins.

I meant to come back and say that I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I’m glad you found a solution. It sounds like you’ve got a lot of well-meaning, but annoying hand-wringers. Sometimes it’d be better to just have someone who’s plain annoying so you can yell at them and not feel bad. Anyway, I’m glad you’ve been able to give them something to do. Here’s hoping they’ll do it.

I heartily endorse this rant. For some unknown reason, we seem to have more than our share of punk-ass kids in my neighbourhood who have nothing better to do than steal random stuff from our front yard, wreck stuff, and graffiti every flat surface they can find. I’d like to see our local police going door-to-door and checking all the JD kids for traces of spray paint on their hands, then putting them in pillories so we can point and laugh and throw rotten fruit at them. And yes, I most assuredly want them to stay off of my lawn.

A nitpick (because we are Nitpick Central here, after all) - serum is the liquid portion of clotted blood; they put the plasma back into you (the liquid part of unclotted blood).

Thanks. I did not know that. And they probably said plasma.

A bit of blood trivia - plasma can be frozen and therefore has a longer shelf life in blood banks.

Stupid idiotic short sighted goat felching hob knockered filthy stinking Bureaucrats can go suck moldy necrotic Republican donkey balls!
Wanting to share in my own good idea, I called up the local blood bank to get an appointment to donate platelets. I’m told I have a ‘permanent ban’ on me in the system. (I behaved last time, I promise!) I had a cornea transplant over a decade ago so they won’t take white blood cell/ whole blood from me, but I was ok to donate platelets and red blood cells. The blood bank tells me the FDA has since changed their minds and they don’t want any blood products at all from me.
There are no blood vessels inthat part of the cornea. I am perfectly safe to donate.
@#$%*&! Bureaucrats!

If it’s any consolation, you’ve had some other stuff on your mind.

It’s not about having blood vessels in the cornea, it’s about having had any kind of transplant :smack: Because you know, if you’ve had any kind of transplants, including auto-transplants, you’re on immunosupressants forever and ever amen, or something like that (the sister in law about whom I ranted in the previous page for giving homeopathic pseudoherbal remedies to my nephews isn’t the only doctor I know who sometimes leaves me wondering whether they got their diplomas at the county fair).

I’ve got low BP, plus I’ve been told “you don’t have a circulatory system, you have a traffic jam :(” Those of you who can donate, please do!

:Golf Clap:

I give that a 9.75.

Great use of idiom, creativity in language, and just a lovely flow to the whole thing. I especially like the use of ‘necrotic.’ It doesn’t get used as often as it could. A piquant little touch there. Quite nice, quite nice.

Don’t hold back here, tell us how you really feel.
BTW 9.9 hob knockered put you above the rest. That shows unusual creativity not usually seen in a pit thread.

UPDATE: I just found out that the little bastard broke into many cars on our street last night and my neighbour actually chased after him but couldn’t catch him. This was between 3 - 4 am and my neighbour called the cops. They have a description (young kid wearing a hoodie, likes to car-hop at 3 am for loose change) but didn’t find him. I wasn’t going to bother since nothing was damaged but now I have to go to the Cop Shop and report my break-in as well. So this little prick not only violated my sense of security and stole my money, he’s now inconveniencing me.

Nope.

ETA: they are my own children. I have legal documents that prove it. (Or just ask them, they’ll happily look at you like you are insane for suggesting otherwise.)

Once recovered from initial annoyance: the term is biological children. They are just as much ours as anyone else’s.

I prefer the terms “domestic” or “homemade” and “imported”

My bitch for today: I am strong-armed at work to contribute for a gift for the boss. If you don’t contribute, your name does not appear on the group card. My boss is childish enough to cause trouble for those whose names are not on the card. This happens for boss’s birthday, Boss’s Day and Christmas. Boss doesn’t even give employees a birthday card, and no Christmas gift from Boss. Employees do get a Christmas bonus but it is from the company (several levels above my boss.) I hate this!

One of my neighbors has stage four breast cancer. Due to her recent divorce (and the SOB was cheating on her so anyone would have shoved his ass out of the door) she tells me she now has no health insurance. This despite what county officials told her would happen. They said she would be covered after the divorce. Said county officials literally told her to get a job. Yeah. I’m sure someone battling advanced cancer can manage to find the time to go work in between painful and debilitating treatments for a horrible disease.

Fucking country. Screw all conservatives and their idiotic opposition to national health care. Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do to help her? Her youngest child is only eight.

Sorry, you’re right. I agree, adopted children are just as much a part of a family as biological children are.

I’m glad you chose to adopt. Sorry if I pissed you off, I didn’t intend to.

I hate cold sores. I always get a couple per year, and always around this time. And the worst part is that this most recent one waited until I was out offshore again, with no Abreva to help (which usually helps me quite a bit). Damn you!!!

Pry into her personal business, first of all. Find out if she was awarded alimony or some other form of spousal support. How long ago did the decree become final? She should consult with her divorce attorney and see if at this point her husband could be ordered to keep her on his insurance.

Disclaimer: IANAL, and have no idea if my idea has any merit, in ANY jurisdiction.

ETA: P.S. Sending good thoughts your way. Be a pal and pass them on, okay?
