Billy Wilder also died that day.
Orville Wright and Mahatma Gandhi both died on Jan. 30, 1948.
Roger Bowen and Mclane Stevenson died with 24 hours of each other. Both played Henry Blake on Mash.
Supposedly Darby Crash of the punk band The Germs killed himself in a way for maximum attention- unfortunately the attention was scant as he was in a punk band unbeknownst to most, and also John Lennon died same day.
Rip Torn died? Sheesh. Gotta pour out a salty dog for old Artie.
Federico Fellini and River Phoenix both passed away on October 31, 1993
There’s a joke that went around after their Michael Jackson’s and Farrah Fawcett’s deaths:
When Farrah Fawcett arrived in Heaven, God was such a big fan he decided to grant her one wish. She asked that all the children in the world could be safe. So God killed Michael Jackson.
Bonny and Clyde;)
Richie Valens, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper all on the same day in 1959.
Don’t know them but there was a Bonnie and Clyde that died the same day.
That’s the strangest one. Not only because of the day (July 4th) and the date (50 years after 1776), but because Adams’ last words were reportedly “Thomas Jefferson still survives.” But Jefferson had died 5 hours prior.
Carl Switzer (Our Gang’s Alfalfa) was shot to death on the same day that Cecil B. DeMille died.
And then there’s Groucho Marx and Elvis.
Seriously? Both deserved better than being footnotes in the other’s obit.
William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes both died on the 23rd of April in 1616. However, Cervantes’s death was 10 days before Shakespeare’s. In 1616, England was still using the Julian Calendar, while Spain had switched over the the Gregorian calendar, which is the one we primarily use today.
Lorne Greene and Peter Tosh both died on September 11, 1987.
Ditto Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines on October 20, 1977. And they had the same cause of death.
ETA: Don McLean did not write a song about them, however.
They died three days apart. Presley on August 16, Marx on the 19th.
