June 27, 2002 – A 12-year-old Colorado girl is being hauled into court - for returning a library book late.
Marisa Gohr is due to appear in Littleton Municipal Court on July 9, even though she’s returned the book about dolphins and paid a $9 fine.

Now she’ll have to have to fork over a $15 court fee to have the case dismissed - or risk a heavy fine or jail.

Her mother, Norma, said: “It’s appalling that we can’t even send a child to the library without having to worry about something like this.”
