I was just wondering…how many state (not Federal) women’s prisons are in Texas? And is there a map showing where they’re located?

…And no, I’m not planning to visit any of them. Thank you very much. This, as the saying goes, is for a story I’m working on.

Here is a list of all of the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice Facilities. It has them broken down by gender, location, etc.

Most of them are near Gatesville, TX, in Coryell county.

(I know you can get that from the list, but I used to drive past them several times a month to/from Waco on Hwy 84.)
