I was looking at a news item about how controversial this book was, and decided to pop it up on Amazon and read the reviews and see what the fuss was about.
The reviews were overwhelmingly positive and full of glowing descriptions of this “true” story how it promoted tolerance etc. for kids. In reading the negative reviews most were predictably about the gay slant, and the fact that it was “not Christian”, one focused (grumpily) on the fact that the story as represented was a biologically inaccurate, anthropomorphized “lie” that the penguins were “gay” & “in love”, and another negative review said the books agenda was subversive in that -
In reading the review it struck me as intolerant, but was it wrong re the main sub-text theme being the OKness and normality of homosexual adoption?
