Good stories for a bad doctor. It is true that the BBC were trying to kill the show then. I always figured he was chosen as the Final Nail. Worked for me. I grew up with the show, from the very first episode but McCoy killed it for me.

Really? I always thought McCoy was a great Doctor hampered by weak scripts. Even his best stories were a bit muddled and the worst were atrocious. But I thought McCoy’s acting was better than adequate. He may be my favorite Doctor in terms of acting and personality. (Tom Baker had a great personality and some great scripts, but his acting really wan’t that great.)

I agree entirely, McCoy is popular in our household. Liek you say his acting ability was better than many of the other Doctors although many of the scripst sucked.

I also second Bonnie Langford as one of the nails in the coffin of the clasic series.
