VANCOUVER - A Vancouver man faces criminal charges after his daughter became ill drinking from a water bottle containing a date-rape drug. The three-year-old was hospitalized after ingesting the drug Sunday morning.
*According to Vancouver Police Constable Anne Drennan, the man had been at a party the night before and brought the water bottle containing the GHB home. She says the man left the bottle sitting out without any regard to his daughter who was playing nearby. *
So let this be a lesson that whenever you come home from drugging and raping women, you should leave your GHB-laced water out of the the reach of your children.
Reminds me of when Jude Law & Sadie Frost’s little daughter accidentally ate an ecstacy pill that was lying on the floor of a club during a child’s birthday party. Yes, it was a child’s birthday being held at a nightclub. The pill was apparently left over from the night before.
Pathetic.
Before I read the link, I was hoping that the dad just didn’t know what was in the bottle, but apparently he did.
This guy sounds like an irresponsible asshole. However, I would like to point out that not all uses of GHB is for date raping. It is voluntarily used for recreational purposes by some people.
That having been said: Our hero should have kept it (and any other dangerous drugs) away from where his kid was playing.
To cut the father the tiniest possible sliver of slack, the article doesn’t say that it was his water bottle that he brought home. He could’ve taken the bottle and it ended up spiked at the party, or he could’ve picked up a spiked bottle at the party. He has not to the best of our knowledge been accused of intentionally drugging anyone or raping anyone.
I just read the article also, and I’ll agree with Otto.
The article did not say the man spiked the water. The article alluded that the man might have know the water bottle was spiked.
The man was arrested because he had an illegal substance in his home. My guess, lacking other immediate evidence, child negligence was all they could use to charge him.
Most parents know to keep harmful items out of the way of children, and most try their hardest to do so. But despite a parent’s best efforts, children sometimes get into and/or ingest things they shouldn’t.
Like others have said, the article doesn’t state that he spiked the bottle or even knew that it was spiked.
If he did get the water bottle at a party, well, it’s stupid to just take an open drink from anyone at a party to begin with, and it’s further unfortunate that it affected his daughter.
But let’s hold off on accusing him of drugging and raping women until and unless we actually find out he did those things.
My first assumption would be that someone was selling the spiked water at the party for on-purpose recreational use. Dad got all screwed up and brought it home, went to bed, and forgot about it.
No excuse for that with kids in the home- you are not in the frat house anymore dipshit.
