And today's good news from the mailbox...

…is a summons for jury duty.

:mad:mumble mumble mumble THWAP (that was me kicking the mailbox)

So I have ten days to send the paper back and currently I am scheduled to serve some time in June…

I’m not sure what exactly it is I am so aggravated about… I guess just the dealing with one more crazy complication to life. On the other hand it might be kind of neat, and I know it is my duty as a citizen, and I’m cool with that.

I just got a letter from REI, apologizing for a possible error in my 2009 dividend…and a $25 gift card.

I don’t think they made an error, but that $25 is an awfully nice gesture.

I got summoned to serve on a Federal jury. Seems an American Indian was in possession of a machine gun while on an Indian Reservation.

I was bumped during jury selection, as was anyone else who:

Had any familiarity with firearms
Had ever been in the military
Worked for the government (any branch)
and some more criteria I can’t presently remember.

Anyway, all that seemed to be left were females with children.

The dude was found guilty.

I didn’t get any mail today. Maybe that’s a good thing.

I hope you get an interesting case. Or maybe you won’t have to be on a jury at all. I’ve been called for jury duty three times, but I haven’t had to serve on a jury yet.

All that came in the mail for me today was a steep medical bill (sigh) and a disc from Netflix (NCIS season 3 disc 4, yay). I wouldn’t mind serving jury duty right now. Every time I’m called I end up excused during voir dire.

Interesting would be good; I hope it’s not anything too violent. I’m pretty squeamish.

The summons actually ended up being one of the more benign pieces of mail… the rest were bills.

Now, see, that kind of mail I could deal with.

I don’t know anything more about jury selection than what I see on TV shows, which I am betting is inaccurate, but still… this can’t be the kind of jury his attorney was hoping for…

I NEVER get called for jury duty…pout.

I did get a check in the mail from Norwegian Cruise Lines for $5. They apparently overcharged on some Mexican tax that doesn’t take effect for another year. Next time I see the person who paid for the cruise, I’ll give him $5
