And we love you too, Martin Hyde!

As you have made abundantly clear, you don’t like the majority of your fellow Dopers. You first opened up your heart and showed the bile that dwelled within here where you called us

and have continued peppering you posts with lovingly thought up insults, the latest:

which showed up here. There are more examples, but I’m at lunch and an hour is not nearly enough time to search through all of your posts. Because you post an awful lot to this wretched hive of scum and villainy, Obi.

Let’s put aside what an incredibly unfeeling, psycosis-bordering misanthrope you are and concentrate instead on this one astonishing fact: You remain here. Amongst the degenerate and the criminals. Amongst people you, yourself have called mentally ill.

Considering how distasteful you find the people who populate this board, I used to find your instance on continuing to post here unfathomable. Not only do you continue to post here but you post a whole hell of a lot. You practically swim in it. Cover your body with it, rub it in, fling it around while all the while complaining about how much it stinks. Then it hit me. You love it. This shitty place. You are a shit-wallowing, turd flinging monkey and I don’t know how you can stand yourself.

Oh wait, yes I can. If it’s possible for you to post on a board that you consider full of criminally insane degenerates, then it must be EASY to live in the skin of a shit wallowing, turd flinging monkey.
Happy posting Martin!

Seems appropriate to post this quote here from a post in the IHOP Pit thread in which he expounds on his notion that for all crimes the immediate death sentence is appropriate and has his support.

(My bolding, not that it needs it to show off the worrying opinion in the post).

Brava.
I don’t post much, but I noticed a few of his rantings recently & wondered…

  1. What set him off?
    &
  2. Why does he continue to read & participate on a board he so obviously hates.

I just couldn’t be bothered to ask.

Actually, I’d just like to add that on occasion, I have agreed with Martin (generally outside of GD or the Pit, though on occasion there too). And regardless of the fact that I don’t agree with a lot of his opinions, I respect his right to hold and state those opinions - after all, they are just as valid as mine.

However, every now and again, he states an opinion which really does worry me a lot. Again, it’s just as valid as any opinion of mine or someone else’s - but sometimes (like in the post I quoted) his opinions stray so far into extremism that I worry for people around him, and about whatever concerning situations that have to caused him to believe such things.

I myself was not amused that he called truck drivers and ranch hands stupid in this thread. Sure, some may be, but there are plenty that aren’t. Including the author of that thread, who is very well-spoken and punctuates correctly within parentheses.

I know more ranch hands than truck drivers personally, and an awful lot of them are in that business because they love it, not because they’re too dumb to do anything else. Martin Hyde seems to a universal annoyance, however.

Didn’t we just do this last week? Not that he does not deserve it. He is the biggest fuckwad around. Carry on.

I wanted this thread to be just about Martin Hyde’s hatred of his fellow Dopers but I can see how it is all just a part of his general misanthropy.

And I agreed with Martin once, Rev. I was so traumatized by the experience that I had to mention it in my journal. I’m not kidding.

Ok, so I posted to the “Things we have learned about strippers from the movies and TV” thread, and I have occasionally ventured the opinion that George W. Bush does not appear to be the most competent President we have had in recent decades. If that makes me a degenerate and a criminal, so be it.

As for Mr. Hyde if I were to have occasion to speak to him directly I would give the sage advice of the drill sergeant in the movie Stripes: “Lighten up, Francis”.

[QUOTE=Martin Hyde Also, the majority of this board is nothing but the representation of the worst and most despicable section of America. Degenerates, the mentally ill, the unwashed masses of extreme leftism that are literally a cancer upon mainstream society.[/QUOTE]

I’ll have this tattooed to my chest. He has such a pithy way with words, no?

I’m practicing despicability today, if anyone’s interested. The support group for the unwashed was cancelled on account of rain. All these years and I didn’t know that to be extreme left meant to leave your soap behind! And here I thought it was all about hygiene for everyone…

The mentally ill really don’t deserve this slam, dear Martin --this is not white of you.

And lastly, the Degnerates Supper Club Dance has been rescheduled–it is now being held at the I-80 underpass, milemarker 3, near the IN border. Hope all can come! We’ve got pre-smoked cigarettes, 12 year old hookers(both sexes) and some Mogen David leftover 20/20. Bring your own TP!

What the fuck does that mean?

Sorry about that. But he does seem to be antagonistic to that particular doper (and by extension, many of the rest of us) for no more apparant reason than his profession. It’s a stretch, I know. I so rarely join in on pitting fellow dopers that I amy not quite have the hang of the nuances of it just yet.

Ah, sorry then. Though I think the quote does add to his misanthropy.

Aw. There, there hugs. It’s ok. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, it fucking means to practice nobless oblige, to hold yourself to high moral standards, to act the lady or gentleman no matter the provocation and lastly (and this is the nasty underbelly of the word), to act in such a way that the superiority of the white race is demonstrated to all.

It can also be used sardonically (as I did) to poke fun at the stooping of one such as Martin to the depths of us depraved liberal types. IOW, a man who holds such high moral standards should not (and indeed would not) take a cheap shot at those people who suffer from mental illness.

And before anyone gets their knickers in a twist–I am providing the shades of meaning brought to the phrase. I am not accusing or implying that the racially charged definition applies to anyone here, including Marty .

I didn’t mean anything by it and you seem to be doing quite well in here. For a mentally ill degenerate.

I mean no disrespect to you Ms. Rigby, but I don’t think one can use the phrase “Thats mighty white of you” which is essentially what you did, without implying what you describe as the nasty underbelly of the word.

If you think about it even his user name indicates he enjoys thinking of himself as a dark and malevolent figure.

I think he stays on the board because he enjoys the attention.

He post things that most posters here would take exception to, even the moderates and conservatives here.

Jim

Ooh! Ooh! Can I be a mentally ill degenerate too? I’ll hold eleanorigby’s top for her while she’s getting things tattooed on her chest!

And if mental illness is called for, I can make comments to my imaginary friend regarding her anatomical attributes.

There’s only one person on the board qualified to diognose someone as mentally ill based on a few posts. You’ll have to make an appointment.

By the way, don’t we have a double jeopardy law on pittings? No? We should.

you are entitled to your opinion, of course, but you do not know the intent of my post. I have already stated that it was not what you are inferring from it.

If I were to intend that(and if the phrase only meant that), I would not use it–I don’t throw racial slurs at anyone, ever.

Take it in the sense of, “that’s mighty big of you” and work backward (IOW, it’s mighty small of him to smear the mentally ill).

For what it’s worth, I’ve heard this term used since my childhood, and it’s always meant, sarcastically, “how generous (or nice) of you.”

At least colloquially.
