And we love you too, Martin Hyde!

Careful, you can get injured jumping so strenuously to such erroneous conclusions. Where did I infer that anyone disagreeing with me was, ipso, facto, being unreasonable?

Let me see if I can ‘elucidate’ what I meant:

Poster A: “You know, you’re really full of shit on this one, SA, and here’s why…”

vs.

Poster B, who might say something like this:

"YOUMOTHERFUCKINASSHOLESONOFABITCHIHOPEYOUFUCKINGDIE!!!

Now, even though both posters are clearly in disagreement with me, I would define Poster A as being reasonable and Poster B as being unreasonable – and while I’m not saying you were anywhere near as bad as Poster B, you seemed to me to have edged toward that side of the scale.

Well, fuckin’ duh. You seem to have confused liberalism with… I dunno. Gandhi, apparently. We’re not saints, and I don’t think we’ve ever tried to portray ourselves as such. Some things deserve to be hated. This is not a dramatic revelation. Yes, the issue is precisely that conservatives hate “the wrong things.”* Hating gays is wrong because there’s no rational reason to hate gays. Hating blacks is wrong because there’s no rational reason to hate blacks. Hating murders or rapists or terrorists? Hate away: those people are scum, and hatred is the civilized response to them.

Should Martin Hyde be hated? Eh. He’s far to trivial and unimportant to really merit hatred. Mocking is sufficient for such as him.

Jesus, I can’t believe I need to explain this to an adult, much less one that’s got a couple of decades of age and alleged experience on me. Where the hell have you been all your life?

[sub]*Actually, that’s not even the issue, either, as conservatives are no more or less likely to be bigoted than liberals, but I’m going with your phrasing to make a rhetorical point.[/sub]

Argument by attrition. By the time Page 10 of this thread rolls around you’ll be part way into explaining all this to SA again. Then you’ll ask yourself why. Then you’ll decide to just let it go and close the window.

And the fool will consider it a victory.

Yay!

-Joe

I’ve outlasted him before. I can do it again.

Yes, but are you prepared for the rest of us to come out of it hating you?

Wow! That’s mighty whit-

Wait a second…

Getting something in my earpiece here…

Good for you Miller! Good for you!

-Joe

Aw gee, I thought this was Martin’s roast, but I see it has become, like so many threads here, another episode of the Starving Artist show. So be it.

Mr. Artist, sir, I am forever indebted to you. I consider myself a liberal, yet for some reason I have never been able to explain adequately to anyone, much less myself, what that might have meant. No one else who considered themselves liberal on this board ever seemed willing to explain what that meant either.

Fortunately, you gone to an enormous amount of effort over the past couple of years describing what liberals think and what they really mean, since what they say, according to you, is only occasionally what they mean. In fact, the bulk of your posts seem to consist of sweeping generalizations about what this or that so-called ‘liberal’ thinks, or deciphering the strange coded language, a code not even known to themselves, in which they speak. I am so glad you can spend the amount of time you do on what may often seem like an unattainable goal.

It must have been very difficult indeed to have gained all this accurate inside knowledge of liberalism, given that you have repeatedly mentioned that you have no liberal tendencies yourself, and since we are so very inarticulate about our beliefs. Talk about a work ethic!

Besides that, there is the admirable degree of restraint with which you hold back your obvious contempt for those who do not precisely share your views. I just want to assure you that I understand what a strain it must be to have to talk down to us, and how much we all appreciate your heroic self-control.

So, for your diligent and untiring efforts to explain us to ourselves in a language simple enough for us to understand, sir, I salute you.

Ahh…Pavlov Round Two.

Let’s see if the dog will salivate!

-Joe

OK, SA, Pax. I am glad to see you have a sense of humor. I am sick to death of this discussion, none of which will change Martin in the slightest.

It was fun-in a root canal sort of way.

Like when the dentist drills past the Novocain?

Exactly. (I’ve never had root canal, but I’ll go with it).

Trust me, you do NOT want to know the full truth of my analogy. The  smiley could not begin to express that truth.

El Kabong, strangely enough, Mr. Artist also exaggerates the characteristics of Conservaties – and that’s hard to do. Life would be so much easier if he did not portray us all as extreme stereotypes of black and white. He knows better and it really doesn’t serve any purpose that I am aware of.

I calling you on this one, Starving Artist. You’ve never heard of any militant liberation groups?

Novocain? Novocain was available for this thread?
Why didn’t I get the memo?

CMC fnord

Okay, okay, so we forgot! Sheesh. Here, I’ll take care of it. (Hand me that needle, willya, Zoe? No, the big one.)

All right, now drop trou and bend over…

But that’s not where it hurts!

Not yet.

I’m a Catholic, do I get to say he should know better?
