Animated Shorts

Pardon, guys, but “Creature Comforts” does not feature Wallace and Gromit. It is a Nick Park animation, from Aardman Animation Studios, and is brilliant, but W&G are not in it. As far as I know, the Wallace and Gromit omnibus consists of “A Grand Day Out”, “The Wrong Trousers” and “A Close Shave”. “Creature Comforts” is shorter than the W&G animations, and is included on a videotape that contains three other offerings from Aardman, “Wat’s Pig”, “Not Without My Handbag” and “Adam”. If you can find this videotape anywhere, buy it. The animation is great and the stories are funny.

If you get ifc (the independent film channel)
they have two different programs that come on from time to time- Animation Celebration, which is a half hour long, and a program that is called, IIRC, IFC Animated Shorts Collection, which is two hours long, and consists solely of award-winning animated shorts. Ifc’s schedule is really weird, though, and it may be a while until either of these programs come on again.
There is also the IFC short film showcase, which has award-winning or otherwise noteable short films.

Did anyone happen to catch the short “Billy’s Balloon”? I saw it at a festival about 8 months ago, and it is also on one of the recent Spike & Mike home videos. Possibly my new favorite.

Get the video for ‘A Bug’s Life’. It has “Geri’s Game” as a lead-in to the film. “Geri’s Game” won the best animated short Oscar a few years ago, and it’s wonderful.

“A Bug’s Life” is a great movie anyway.

bumping a thread that’s older than dirt to pass along that Tripping the Rift has been picked up as a series on the Sci Fi Channel. The ads seem pretty funny, but I’m eager to check out the premiere next week to see if they keep the same raunchy spirit to the show.

Also, you can still download the short here

heh…when I opened this post, I’m thinking ‘boxer shorts with cartoon characters on them’.
