The mention of Spike’s she-male friend in the Cowboy Bebop newbie thread inspired me to start this thread.*
What bishounen (beautiful boys) or biseinen (beautiful men) make you all weak in the knees?
My current favorite is Count D from Pet Shop of Horrors. Hair, make-up, wardrobe, this boy is the total package. I could just eat him up like an expensive box of chocolates The only person in this series that’s prettier than the Count is the kirin, but he/she/it(?) is a little young for me.
So who gets you all hot and bothered?
[sub]*I remember matt_mcl had a thread on this subject a while back, but I didn’t know what a bishi was back then.[/sub]
Buckleberry, I seem to be having trouble with your link. I keep getting shunted over to something called “Sex2Go” with naughty, non-anime pictures. Maybe a mod could fix it for you?
Android Jiro, from the animated remake of Jinzo Ningen Kikaider. He’s sweetly innocent and terrified that he lacks the capacity to disobey evil commands. When he touches Mitsuko’s face and plaintively whispers, “How can I become like you?”, I melt. MELT, I tell ya!
Chichiri from Fushigi Yuugi. Da!
Domon Kasshu (G Gun). This is purely a hormone vote, since he’s wayyyy too moody and sullen for me (except in that parody drama CD, where he’s YOMANK-level funny). I can watch that whole liquid nanomachine fighting suit sequence over and over and over, especially the part where it wraps around his butt, and… dur…
(Hey, that’s three charas voiced by the super-umailicious Tomokazu Seki!)
Speed Racer. It’s the voice. IMO, Peter Fernandez set the standard for American bishi voices.
My ultimate source for bishounen is still Fushigi Yuugi…where else could you find a group of hotties to equal Chichiri, Hotohori, Tamahome, Tasuki, and Nuriko? sigh
I also love Kenshin, and I still consider him to be pretty, despite the scar. I think it just sets off his eyes and makes him dreamier.
There’s Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho to consider, and he has the added coolness of becoming a 7ft tall youko! I really think that he’s at his most gorgeous in this form:
Almost always yes. Most manga series are published in B/W in huge, fat weekly/biweekly/monthly anthologies on cheapo paper, though often the star series of an anthology will have the first four pages or so in full color on better quality paper. It’s a great deal. You can get 500-800 pages (a dozen or more series by different artists) for around $4.50. When enough installments in a particular series are run, they’re collected into volumes and resold, again for what I think are fantastic prices. Lessee ::looks at a Ranma 1/2 volume laying near the bed:: Eleven stories, 180 pages for 380 yen. Compare that to how much the Viz translated graphic novels sell for… It’s cheaper and more fun to learn to read Japanese
