Anniversary inflation (help me find a gift!)

So our 10th anniversary is in two weeks. I figure I’ll go with the traditional approach and get Lady Chance something made of whatever apparently random material the 10th anniversary is supposed to be about.

And I find this.

Apparently it’s more complicated than I thought. Look at that ‘alt modern’ list (sounds like a music form, anyway)!!!

Where the traditional list has ‘flowers’ it has ‘appliances’.

‘Happy Anniversary, sweetie. Have a dishwasher. smooch

I’m having trouble seeing it.

And look at my worries!

10 year:
Traditional: Tin
Modern: Aluminum
Alt Modern: Diamond!!!

OK, Tin to Aluminum I can understand. Tin items might be hard to find these days.

But upgrading from Tin to Diamond! Yow!

Heck, and look at ‘China’. In the traditional it’s the 20th anniversary. But not our alt-modern folks! You get to cut straight to the chase and get China in Year Two!!!

Yow!

So anyway…

Where do I get a romantic gift made from Tin?

There’s no such thing as a romantic gift made from tin.

Here’s a site, though, that lists tin/aluminum gift ideas, though.

That was an astonishingly useful link.

Thanks!

No prob. I hope my superfluous ‘though’ didn’t get in your way.

Interesting - I see that my anniversary this year is china/platinum. To be honest, I don’t think that in all these years, my husband and I have exchanged a single anniversary gift. This year, if I can manage it, I’ll arrange to spend that day with him, but since it’s a Tuesday, that could be tricky. It would require me to take a minimum of 3 days off, and I really don’t have that much vacation time to spare.

We should be able to spend our 21st together, for sure.

Oh yeah - Happy Anniversary, JC!

To heck with the traditional approach. I’d get her a GPS unless she already has one, then I’d get her Roses, Godiva Chocolates and a white gold heart pendant with a diamond in it.

There is a necklace style known as “tin cup”. I am not sure why. They are kind of pretty though.

From JuanitaTech’s link, there is a nice set of yin yang tin vases. You could engrave those with something and then give her some flowers, dinner and weekend bed and breakfast trip.

It’s great that you guys have lasted a whole decade.

It’s because of the movie “Tin Cup” with Renee Russo and Kevin Costner. That’s the style of necklace she wore in most of it.
