Announcement: I may never buy any other type of shoes. That is all

Another vote for Keen’s.

My absolute worth every penny? Birkenstocks hands (feet?) down for comfort and longevity. This might edge me into cultist though and I’ll cop to that.

Those have laces. If I have to bent over to put them on and take them off then they’re only comfortable in between.

Slip on Skechers are excellent.

They make slip ons.

I think that loafers aren’t necessarily slip-ins; many need a shoe horn to put on. The innovation with the Skechers is that the back has, basically, a built-in shoe horn. And I just came from Kohls where I bought a pair of Skechers slip-ins, as I’d been thinking about getting some for a few weeks. I’m no expert, but for anyone else also thinking about them, I don’t think that all Skechers are slip-ins though the ones I just bought are labeled as such.

I hope my Skechers are durable, time will tell.

I feel the need to mention, though, the most durable shoes I’ve ever owned: Merrell brand. I bought a pair for a trip to Alaska nearly 10 years ago and I’ve put them through the ringer (not literally) since.

They are now my lawnmowing shoes and they remain comfortable, solid, and intact.

mmm

I’m a serious walker. I put about 10 miles a day on my shoes. A pair of Skechers (Go Walk Joy) only lasts me about 6 months. I buy them over and over again, though, because they’re mushy enough to cushion my walk and I don’t have to break them in. I wish I could make them last longer, but I love my Skechers!

If it’s just the memory foam insole that’s wearing out, replace them, often. Not a fan of memory foam in my shoes.

Glad y’all love your brown slip on shoes.

I love the idea of them but I can’t wear them. Like the majority of shoes for me my narrow, narrow heel prevent me from wearing them.

My bought some for me a few years ago and I love them. I’m on my second pair, and I think my first pair lasted me about two to three years of daily wear. They’re great.

I consider slip-on shoes to be a sign of slothfulness, moral turpitude, and the decline of western society. But, after reading this thread, maybe I should give them a chance. I haven’t done any good turpitude for a while, so I guess I’m due.

So do I, but I don’t care.

mmm

What a timely thread. I was just thinking about these and an ad popped in my FB feed and they seem reasonably priced. I think I’ll try a pair based on this feedback. Thanks everyone!

These intrigue me, but I need industrial-strength arch support, which I’ve only found in Vionic and Ziera shoes. I may go to a Skecher outlet in San Jose, though, and look at the insoles. I know I can switch out my own insoles, but shoes not designed for them tend to be too “shallow” to accommodate the higher-arch insoles that I need.

Bought a pair and slipping in is nice but I still had to go buy a separate arch support to make them wearable. Not great. I like their sandals, they also don’t have enough arch support but I wear them anyway.

I have all sorts of Skechers and love them all. My husband recently bought a pair of Skechers Slip-ins. They are of the sneaker variety. He simply LOVES them. I must hear at least once a day that he will never get another pair of tie shoes.

I haven’t tried the Sketchers version, but my mom bought a pair of the L.L.Bean version (the one that resulted in a lawsuit). I’ve tried them on; they’re surprisingly comfy, and the little foam things are substantial enough to keep my feet in place. I don’t know that the soles are thick enough for all-day wear. Mom likes them too; she enjoys having something more substantial than a flip-flop to slip on if she needs to check on something outside, or make a really quick trip to a store.

My husband has Zebas. These were the first slip in on whatever I’d ever heard of. He got them in 2019? Anyway, they aren’t supposed to be washed. I wash them anyway in my front loader and let them dry overnight. They look and function just like they are brand new. Expensive, but worth every penny for a guy who cannot bend over. Our son bought them for him. I would like to get the Skechers slip ins for me.

Some of the Skecher slip-in shoes are washable, though not all. I just bought a pair with leather uppers and I don’t think these are.

I take it you don’t need to take your shoes on and off constantly. Laces are for footwear that stays on.

I do a lot of home inspections. Our staff does a lot of work going in and out of homes moving furniture, materials, tools, and garbage. Everyone here has silp on footwear. This is in Canada where outdoor footwear is not worn inside someone’s home.

I just bought a similar pair of ‘slip in’ sketchers yesterday. I have used Merrel loafers and other slip on shoes for years but recently had a corn develope and need something with better width and arch support.

I had a previous pair of sketchers that were very light, casual sneakers. They were okay, but fragile and did not have enough arch support or width. These ones I just bought are extra wide with a high arch. The heal cup is very tall and reinforced so they shouldn’t get folded over when not using a shoe horn.
