Announcement: Phase42 is now Mister Rik

Well, I had planned to compose a witty essay to announce this, but you know, I’m just too lazy and didn’t get around to it.

So suffice it to say that I’ve dropped the name Phase42. I took that as my Internet handle when I first logged into a GeoCities chatroom way the hell back in 1996. At the time the two components of that name, “Phase” and “42”, held some significance to me, but they don’t any longer - and really haven’t for some time now. I’ve just sort of hung onto the name because I’d simply had it for so long.

Even back in 1996 the name gave me a little trouble - many people in chatrooms automatically assumed that the “42” represented my age, despite the fact that I was 30 at the time and repeatedly said so. Made chatting up the 26-year-old ladies difficult at times :stuck_out_tongue:

With that in mind I felt that today, May 17, my 42nd birthday, would be the perfect time to finally drop the “42”, and while I’m at it, the “Phase” as well.

Over the last year or so I’ve taken to registering as Mister Rik at other Web sites, and so now I’m finally adopting that name here. I’ve never made a secret of my real name, so why keep hiding behind a phony handle?

So there it is. Phase42 is no more.
Well, it still exists in my e-mail address because I haven’t managed to get my e-mail working yet with my new domain name, http://www.mister-rik.com

I forget…do we have to do the whole goat/squid thing again, or is the ferret sufficient?
