Another Cell Phone Thread: Anyone Have Metro PCS As Provider?

I currently have T-Mobile, and although service has been good, they don’t seem to want to budge with pricing and I balk at a family plan that will cost upwards of 120 dollars/month just for basics and limitations on minutes, etc.

I see that Metro PCS is in my area, and several of my students have them as a provider. Service price seems reasonable - unlimited everything (talk, text and web) starting at 40 dollars a month/per line, with a 5 dollar discount for additional family member.

Plus, they even offer unlimited international calls for an extra 10 bucks, cheaper than my Skype plan.

Any pros/cons with Metro PCS?
Any other suggestions with cheap(er), one price for all, cell phone providers?

I live in south FL and have used Metro PCS for years- no problems at all. The only issue was when I traveled out of state; at the time they didn’t offer any nationwide coverage, so I had to use a tracphone until I got back home. They do have some sort of plan now for that but I haven’t used it yet. All in all I’ve been very satisfied with the coverage, service and price.

Thanks, BoBettie.
The price is great - starting at $40/mo for unlimited text, talk and web - and that includes tax and fees. Plus, no contract, so I figure if I don’t like it, I can switch back after a month.
Phone choice seems OK (but have to pay full price for phones), but still think I might give it a go.
At any rate, thanks for your feedback.

I did have Metro once upon a time, years ago. For talk, they were fine. No problem there… texting, though, was horrible. My text messages would send or arrive minutes and sometimes hours after I had sent them or my friends had sent them to me. I don’t know if that is still a problem with them… A friend of mine with T-Mobile actually has issues with that, as well. I now use AT&T and have NEVER had that problem with them.

I have Metro PCS also. I don’t send text messages much, so I haven’t noticed a problem with texting. However, I’ve noticed that sometimes, my voice mail messages arrive a few hours to a day late. Not sure why.
