Nothing to be sorry for. You are absolutely right.
Sounds like fun to me. Any likely spots in your area?
Personally, I’d like to spend a few days there. In the Big City.
Heh. The Big City… er, Emerald City… is 100 miles south of here. I’m right up by the Canadian border (which would be handy for any interested BC Dopers). There’s a range just off my freeway exit. Might be better if anyone knows a more centrally-located range. And I’m thinking June through August would be a good time frame here.
That sounds like a great idea. I just got back into shooting a few months ago and I have three little piggies here that I wouldn’t mind others using as long as I get to try something new. Plus would love to find someone in my area who reloads, damn ammo prices.
A DopeBlast does sound fun. I assume everyone in Colorado has a good selection of firearms…
Yes.
The base 10/22 is ok, it’s not a Winchester 9422 or a Remington 547, but it’s ok. I don’t want to drop the money for one of the really nice 10/22’s, but I don’t know of anything with the price/quality of a Ruger. Hoping someone knew something I don’t.
That’s something that would need to be addressed. Shooters would be expected to bring enough ammo to share, with the expectation of shooting someone else’s ammo when they trade. Non-shooters? I haven’t met any shooters who wouldn’t donate a few rounds, but a range that sells ammo would be good. And we all have extra eye- and hearing protection, right?
Sorry to hijack.
They don’t make the 9422 anymore, so that’s getting up into the $500-$600 range. (I haven’t checked prices recently.) I bought a stainless 10/22 Deluxe with a 22" barrel. Unfortunately it is/was only made for sale at Wal-Mart. But I like the lines.
I guess I’ll throw my hat into the ring. If you live near Central PA and want to shoot, we can probably work something out. I’ve gone out with danceswithcats numerous times, and once with catsix. I’m always willing to share my guns with anybody, but the ammunition is the showstopper. Either you can bring your own or you can tell me what you need, I’ll shop it, and I’ll tell you what I need from you as far as money. After that, shoot it all. It’s yours. And it sure won’t hurt the guns.
PM me if you’re interested.
New York, Shotgun. Can’t invite guests to my local club, insurance, apparently, but Thunder Mountain in Jersey is always open. They tend to have a Beretta automatic available.
Doors?

The new issue of Gun & Ammo had a nice report of the scout .22 youth rifle.
On the topic of a DoperBlast, I’m in the Monterey area, and can probably find a handful of interested (bored) airmen to come along who have all received some basic firearms training. Sadly, I don’t own any weapons, and wouldn’t be able to keep them in the dorm if I did.
I thought you were near Seattle. Oh, well.
The one particular firearm he’s showing off would have to be registered as an SBR. So it’s not unobtainable on the civilian market, but it’s not as easy as buying a regular Glock.
Adding the autosear as he suggests would not be something a normal, non-dealer, non-agency could purchase. There are no pre-86 Glock auto switches.
That’s true, the Glock 18 didn’t come about until 1987 sadly. But that would be something to see if they did stick the 18 into that package.
Sweet, thanks. I seem to have a mental block concerning non British or American companies. Couldn’t think of any foreign companies making a .22 (except Anschutz, and he’s not getting one of them!), even though I know there must be hundreds.
Now that he’s old enough to start hunting I probably should be looking for a bigger rifle for him, but I’m not ready to drop $500+ so he can adopt one of mine for the time being. .257 Roberts is a gentle cartridge, should be perfect for an introduction into the world of centerfire (I hope).
DoperBlast probably should have its own thread, shouldn’t it? I’d be happy to host some gun-deprived types in the Denver metro area.
I work in Seattle!
I *love *that gun. A local range was letting people test those and the FS2000, and it made me want one. The FS2000 was too heavy for me (I don’t care what anyone says, that gun weighs 50 lbs, minimum,) but the PS90 was just perfect.
