Another day, another "persecuted' Christian

Guy who just happened to be a newly ordained Baptist minister works for public library and purposefully misgenders people, and gets fired…and a very public “martyrdom” immediately ensues:
Louisiana pastor fired from library job after insisting on misgendering colleague
If you don’t think he took that job at the library knowing what the rules were beforehand, I’ve got a London Bridge to resell to you.

And yet, if you always called him a Presbyterian, he’d be pissed.

Now, if only the judge would read his brief, call him to the bench and say,

“Shhhhh…!”

This will be the next “outrage” that Trump and his minions use to try to distract from the Epstein files.

Fuck this asshole.

And from the article:

As soon as he got fired, though, he immediately ran to his conservative buddies like he was a football coach from Bremerton eager to make this story all about how he was persecuted.

It’s jarring to see my hometown brought up in a discussion like this but I know exactly what they’re referring to.

Also from the article:

I’ll admit my own conspiratorial thinking: Why did Ash even want a job at a public library? When the sort of people who believe there’s only one book that matters, and who also celebrate the mass layoffs of government employees, purposely get a job at a public library , it’s easy to believe Ash only applied to work there so he could eventually sue the library over its policies.

I don’t think this is a crazy assertion to make. With the Trump administration openly attacking DEI, I would totally believe that he got a job there knowing that it would give him an excuse to violate the library’s code of conduct in such a way to highlight its DEI nature.

It’s thoroughly disgusting.

For people wanting a neutral article talking about this case:

Most other articles I’ve seen are either from right wing (particularly Christian activist) sources, and LGBTQ+ or other left wing sources.

Another news source with a video and a copy of the letter from local religious leaders is here:

When he agreed to do the job he agreed to follow the very public policies, so that means he deliberately lied.

Exactly, that’s why I suspect this was planned in advance.

If the Alliance Defending Freedom announces they’re going to take the case, you will know for sure it was a setup.

From the first article:

He told WBRZ he knew his choice violated the library’s inclusivity policy, which says that employees have the right to be addressed by their chosen name and pronouns…

Nitpicking here, but shouldn’t that be “addressed by their chosen name and referred to by their chosen pronouns”? One generally doesn’t address another in the third person…

You’d think librarians would know better. They should read a lot.

Didn’t a legislator recently, to make a point, misgender a Republican member of that legislature as “she” when said Republican was misgendering another person?

Sounds vaguely familiar. I probably saw it here.

This?

Thanks. That’s the one.

Seems like this guy could’ve found a way to refer to the other employee without using the Devil’s Pronouns or even their first name.

Are things that desperate in the church biz that pastors have to take a second job as a library tech, or was it more a matter of infiltrating the sinful library to create a cause celebre?

All signs so far point to the latter.

He could have, but that would have meant not setting himself up to be able to climb up on his cross.

Well not literally a cross. That would require suffering and self-sacrifice. This guy climbed up into a lawsuit.

This guy is clearly a follower of Trump not Jesus.

Set himself up? This whole thing stinks of organized group effort.
