Another "did I dream this movie?" thread from me.

It poured down rain yesterday and the gas attendant was dressed in a yellow rain slicker that covered him from head to toe. Allofasuddenly I had a flashback to a deranged movie I half remember. These are the parts that left an impression:

  1. A yellow rain slicker figures prominently.
  2. It was a slasher movie.
  3. Brooke Sheilds may have been in it. If she was, she was a child.
  4. Brooke Sheilds may have been molested by an old bald guy in it.
  5. There’s a crazy house scene.

Does this ring a bell with anyone. Or am I spooked by yellow slickers because I’ve got some sort of yellow slicker phobia?

Well, it’s a Slasher with a young Brooke Shields :

I don’t usually watch slasher movies but I do remember seeing a bit of what must have been one of the Friday the 13th movies that had a scene with Corey Feldman in a rain slicker. He was supposed to be a little kid (I think it was a flashback scene) but he had apparently aged a few years since the previous installment was filmed and he looked about 16, it was kind of silly.

I think some of the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies also had a person in a rain slicker.

Both of these would have been when Brooke Shields was older though.

That’s it! Thank you. According to wiki (this movie has it’s own wiki. How could I have thought I dreamed it?) this was Brooke’s very first movie. Also, she’s the first slasher victim and not the alleged slasher.

I never saw the movie, but I recall that it was re-released under a new name in the late Seventies/early Eigthies to capitalize on Brooke Shields’ new fame. The ads made her out to be the star, though in reality, her character was killed off very early i nthe movie.

I remember that movie! I liked it when I was young; I wonder if it still holds up today.

And, naturally

I don’t know if it’s your movie but I remember this I think. Was the movie several different stories? The one that reminds me of this is one with a woman driving while someone is hiding in the back seat.

Holy crapoly! Firstly, I didn’t know this was a “classic”, B-- why? and on the gripping hand, when is the remake of that other half remembered slasher movie about the evil twin who stole the ring from his twin’s coffin and killed his cousin by putting a pitchfork in the haystack gonna be remade?
You know, that other movie I half remember. Only this one I know is real because other people remember it too.

Looked it up, it’s called The Other.

Interesting. I read the book The Other was based on, but never got around to seeing the movie. I didn’t know there was a remake planned. I really liked the book at the time, I should check out the movie.

There’s no remake being planned for The Other. I was being dumb.

Do you watch a lot of movies late at night?

Sometimes, I fall asleep with the TV on and come up with the oddest mixes of movies I thought I saw.

Like “The Day the Forbidden Planet Stood Still” or “The Invasion of the Shaggy DA Snatchers”

“Capricorn Strain” was my favorite.

I also see a lot of “Star Who” and “Doctor Trek.”

Just for fun.

The description reminded me a little of the John Cusack movie Identity, which has people running about in the rain and is kind of a slasher/horror/thriller movie. Underrated little movie, too. No Brooke Shields, though; instead, there’s Rebecca De Mornay.

Yes, all the time. I don’t usually get confabulated movies (sometimes I do) but I do get a lot of “did I dream that or was that really in the movie?” action.
