And that would be me:D. Mr. avabeth-to-be proposed last night after we’d gone to a wedding.
He kept telling me that he wanted to show me an episode of the Simpsons, so when we got back, he put on the episode where Homer and Marge get married. I honestly didn’t suspect anything was up, but I kept wondering why it was so necessary that we watch this episode. When we got to the part where Homer proposed to Marge, he stopped the episode and asked me to be his wife:). And I said yes. And now I have an adorable fiance (I love that word!) and an adorable proposal story. I’m really, really happy:).
LOL! No ring yet - we have to have it made and we have to get the diamond from his mom, who’s got his grandmother’s ring. However, I HOPE to have it by the next MADinner:). I’ll be showing that thing off non-stop:). And I’m not going anywhere for a few years - you’re stuck with me at MAD events for at least two more years:D. He’s moving to VA while I finish grad school, and then we’ll probably move out west somewhere. And the wedding will be in January of 2005 - probably on my 30th birthday (just to freak out my grandma, who panics when her granddaughters hit 30 and aren’t married - I’m mean:).

I remember well what it’s like. We were engaged in February 2002, the day before a huge family 'do. I spent the whole drive (5 hours) gawking at the sparklies!
Thank you, folks! I told my best guy friend that he used the Simpsons to propose, and he cracked up - both my fiance and my friend are huge Simpsons fans, as am I, and he said nothing could have been more perfect:).
I think this will be the one month I use up all of my cell phone minutes. Sheesh.
