Another how far up shit creek is California thread ($20 minimum wage)

I suspect that applying the law only to fast-food restaurants sort of forces other employers to raise their starting salaries. (If I can get twenty bucks an hour from McDonald’s as a fry cook, why can’t you, my current employer, pay me more than that?)

Cite? It’s $10.49 in Ohio. We don’t have in and out so I can’t compare.

I’m sure it does, and even more directly. If Target and McDonald’s are both paying $16/hr, a lot of people (maybe most) will prefer Target. But if Target pays $4/hr less than BK, McDonalds Wendy’s , etc, Target will mostly get the people who couldn’t get hired at the FF places. Which will lead to Target raising the pay if they want the most desirable employees.

Though I would rather go home not smelling of frying oil or french fries.

Not sure how you would like me to cite it since McDonalds doesn’t show their prices online. Nor do I necessarily want to give away what town I live in on here, although I can say it is one of the more affluent areas in Southern California. You can take my word or not. But from experience I can tell you that In and Out is around $6 cheaper for essentially the same meal. I’ve been to both in the past two weeks.

I would have preferred that too, for the same pay - but for enough more money, I would have smelled like fry oil. In fact, I did because my FF boss paid me $2/hr over minimum back in the 80s which kept plenty of people from leaving to work at the mall across the street.

It’s $12.97 where I am, unless it’s a Double Big Mac.

They show their prices in the app. A Big Mac, large fries and large soda is $11.99 in Manhattan so I am also surprised that you say it’s $6 higher where you are.

Here is an image that shows a somewhat nearby In and Out menu. At the top corner, you can see the meal price which is under $10.

The McDonald’s across the street from the In and Out lists a Big Mac at $8.29, a large fry at $5.09, and a large drink at $2.99. That’s $16.37 without tax. Granted, there is a discount with a meal, which shows it currently under $13, for a small not including tax. I don’t think my original estimate is that far off though.

Neither of these are where I live, but in a town that seems to have somewhat similar prices to where I’m at. Things seem to be a little higher here than what that website shows.

That’s as close to a cite as I can give without giving away my location.

Here in Santa Barbara (affluent California beach town), a Big Mac is $5.99 and a large fry is $5.29.

I rarely go to the local In-n-Out because there is always a huge line and it’s not worth it but last March I paid $10.40 for a double double and fries.

Man, my favorite food truck is looking good. Local beef burger on homemade bun with bacon, caramelized onion, pepper jack and jalapeno with hand cut fries for $14.

I see a Big Mac Meal for $12.19; the fast food restaurants really push their combos.

I guarantee that’s for a small. Upgrade to a large, or even a medium, and you’ve added a couple of bucks.

Eau de Parfum Pomme Frite

Big Mac meal (large fry and soda) is $11.69

Edit: If I change to a medium fry (the smallest) the price changes to $11.19

Edit2: Changing the size of the drink doesn’t affect price at all. Interesting.

Those are delivery prices. For fuck sake.

I just looked and it’s $6.49 for a Big Mac at that exact McD’s. Large fry is $4.29.

There is nothing there that states those are delivery prices. And you left out the $3 drink. Assuming your prices are correct, that still puts you at $14 plus tax. And if those prices are correct that you quote, then they’ve recently lowered their prices, which is great, but you can still get a comparable meal at In and Out for about $5 less.

It’s very clearly delivery prices. I was able to get the actual price on the official ap by plugging in the address. I don’t feel like looking up the drink price because I have already done enough of your homework but I think we can be sure that it’s equivalently less than your silly claim.

First of all, I don’t use their app so I have no idea what it says. I tried to find their prices online and that was the best I found. Again, nothing states those are delivery prices. In fact, if you select delivery on that site, it sends to grubhub or doordash where the prices are even higher. Doordash lists a large big mac meal at $16.27 before tax or delivery charges are added. So I do not believe those are delivery prices at all. According to that website - DISCLAIMER: Information shown on the website may not cover recent changes. For current price and menu information, please contact the restaurant directly.

So it sounds like McDonald’s recently lowered the price of their Big Mac and you have up to date information through the app that I was not privy to through that site. I clearly remember paying as much as $8 for one at that location. As to whether you believe me or not, I really couldn’t give a rat’s ass.

So they lowered the price of their food in light of the hike in minimum wage? That’s fantastic news.

I suggest the ap by the way. They have special offers after you’ve earned enough points to save even more.
