Anyone remember a movie where a young Native American man and his grandfather have to take a pony on a road trip to a tribal gathering, and along the way the journey is interspersed with mythical tales being told by the old man, with stunning visual recreations? I think it would have been released sometime in the last 10 years, and it had a fairly long title. Your help will be much appreciated.
eta. typo.
This fits everything except the stipulation that the title be long: could it be DreamKeeper? (It has a long tagline that’s usually printed alongside the title and might look like a long subtitle-- “From the heart of a story came a young man’s journey to the soul.”)
The plot synopsis from IMDb: “In South Dakota, in an Indian reservation, an old storyteller Indian asks his grandson Shane, who is in trouble owing money to some bad guys, to take his old pony and him to Albuquerque to the great powwow, an Indian meeting. While traveling, Grandpa tells mysterious Indian tales of love, friendship and magic.” It won an Emmy for its visual/special effects.
