Another offensive TV spot from Moveonpac.

How cute. Rick still hates fags.

If only we can get blacks back down to 3/5ths! Everyone knows what the founders REALLY meant by “All men”, after all.

FinnAgain - IOKIYAR (or IOKIYAAR) is It’s OK If You Are (A) Republican.

-Joe

I believe this is a bit over the line. Bricker has an overly developed (perhaps obsessive) fixation on process, but hates neither gays nor blacks.

I don’t like Bricker a whole lot myself but this was just… What’s gotten into you, merijeek? You used to be cool.

Eh? He didn’t ask me about that bit. Just because someone on ‘one side’ does something stupid doesn’t mean the ‘other side’ can get away with doing stupid shit. Christ, if Santorum pulled an AK-47 and mowed down a bunch of orphans we should ignore MoveOn for detonating a nuclear weapon in Orange County?

How about we lambast all stupidity, no matter who does it or what others are doing?

Fine, as long as we also put a stop to finding false equivalency as well.

kc: *Just because someone on ‘one side’ does something stupid doesn’t mean the ‘other side’ can get away with doing stupid shit. *

True, but it means that the “one side” ought to think carefully before hollering about the mote in the “other side’s” eye.

Note, though, that Evil One wasn’t bitching about stupid insults to the Republicans or Democrats in this case. He was trying to argue that MoveOn’s comparison of Republicans to PRC tanks somehow also insulted the Tiananmen protestors, which I argued is absurd.

If you want to argue instead that MoveOn’s analogy is stupid or insulting to the GOP, as I said, knock yourself out. But it will somewhat weaken your credibility if you ignore similar slams against the Democrats.

Too bad Spike Jones isn’t still around, or he could narrate the thrilling finish:

*"And the winner is (trumpets blaring, followed by stentorian echo-chamber voice):

Beetle-baum."*

Oh, I don’t know whether either one of you can claim the high ground on that.

What pisses me off is the low budget look of all of their ads. C’mon folks. Most Mac users are democrats, ain’t they? Can’t you find a more accomplished artist?

I dunno. I’d change the content first. The animation can be improved afterwards.

It does seem a bit of a stretch, though I haven’t seen it so I’m going to withhold judgement(Thank the gods for DVR). I just find ‘look what they did’ a rediculous way to refute his alligations.

Good point. I think I’ve just gotten to the point where someone just pushes my buttons too easily. I’ll have to watch that.

But really, if you don’t think he has a total hatred for homosexuals then you haven’t been paying attention. Just because he’s POLITE about it doesn’t make it any more forgivable.

Anyways, that’s what the ignore button is for, isn’t it?

Yeah. ALMOST as shameless as Republicans invoking God all the time.

Agreed. While he claims to be in favor of Civil unions for gay people, he has been justifying all the legal decision about to keep them from getting Unisons exactly equivalent to marriages. I see him posting statement that seem well reasoned, until you realize that he claims common sense and interpretation of the constitution cannot be brought into an argument, while arguing in other threads, he does the exact same thing, and yet claims he is right to do so.

Honestly, I don’t. I believe he does his best to treat them just as he would any other member of society. He’s stated he supports civil unions, and I believe him.

Well, let’s not start a debate about him here.

I like the one with the woman speaking with a very pronounced southern accent. Get it: wink, wink. Even red staters don’t like what the Pubs are doing. Very clever. Very devious. Divide and conquer!

This is actually kind of fun, seeing both sides at their most self-righteous best. Chris Matthews has had some great debates on Hardball lately. And the funny thing is, this is all over a few circuit court judges. Just think what it’s going to be like when we get to the real thing.

I still prefer IOKIARDI (It’s OK If A Republican Does It), if only because I get royalties for the use of that acronym.

And Bricker’s just being an ass, as usual.

I can see I am not the only one who feels that Bricker is an ass, despite his claim to support gay rights. However, you know what? I could really use some comments like that in my pit ranting ,which has devolved into sweetness and light. I could also use specifics of his ducking issues. I would post some myself, from past threads where I have argued with him on issues, and he hand waved away the court cases I brought up, but once I started to look over them, I became overcome with disgust at the thought of looking over his postings.

P.S. People who have just popped in to check on threads of Bricker’s on and off, might think he support gay rights, but repeating that claim long enough doesn’t make it true, for his arguments against recent court cases in support of gay marriages seem to put the lie to his claim.

My problem is not with the elephants. It’s with the man. I just happen to think that this unnamed mans courage and sacrifice is a bit too high to be used for comparision fodder in a partisan political ad.

And I don’t think that saying “Yeah, but Santorum did a bad thing too!” excuses it. Let Santorum stand or fall on his own merits. If he offends enough Pennsylvanians, he will be removed from office. Obviously Robert Byrd isn’t concerned about constituent backlash.

I suppose not, since the two remarks are nowhere near similar. However, since the article you posted agreed with the facts, I will guess that I am not being whooshed, and that your statement, which sounds like the opposite of what the article says, is simply too subtle for me.

Come now. Bricker is on record as supporting the government getting out of the marriage business, ceding that to churches and sundry, and only granting civil unions. However, this does not mean he wants the process by which the government would reach that point to be circumvented. That is, civil unions should be instituted by legislative process, and not by a controversial judicial decision.

You may disagree with that, but it is dishonest to call him a hypocrite or a liar.
