A123, maker of electric batteries for (among other companies) Fisker Automotive, has filed for bankruptcy. Story here. They were another alternative-energy company that had government-backed loans; if you listen hard, you can hear President Obama shouting “Dude, you couldn’t fucking wait until after tonight’s debate to announce this?!”
A123 had a deal with a Chinese company for funding, but apparently they decided not to go through with it. The automotive business is being sold to Johnson Controls (a major-league automotive supplier), and the rest of their assets will be sold off at a later date.
