Another one: Charles Napier dies

Right after reading about Steve Jobs’ untimely passing, I found out veteran character actor Charles Napier died. I always enjoyed him. At least 75 is a pretty good run. R.I.P.

Did you know he was one of the Space Hippies in “The Way to Eden” - he’s the one sitting behind the bald guy The Way to Eden - Wikipedia

I loved him as the various prison wardens on the Simpsons.

(hands Homer a nightstick) “This end’s for beatin’, this end’s for pointin’.”
“When does training start?”
“It just finished.”

Don’t you say a fucking word.

Ahh I remember fondly his face being eaten off by Anthony Hopkins.

Damn. That’s a shame. I hope the Duke Phillips statue will be shouting extra loud - and perhaps have its pants at half-mast - in his memory.

He was a Good Ole Boy. :frowning:

He was right – I did look funny eating corn on the cob with no teeth.

P.S. Anyone else see “Harry, Cherry and Raquel”?

[Raises hand] … and also Beneath The Valley of the Ultravixens.

The voice of Duke Philips is dead?! What a duke-tastrophe!

Tucker McElroy, the driver of the Winnebago. I never could figure out why he got so pissed at the Blues Brothers, though.

One of the very few people who did Russ Meyer movies and then had a long and notable career after that. (And two Blues Brothers quotes already. Nice.)

Presumably because they stole his gig at Bob’s Country Bunker and then left him on the hook for the $300 beer tab.

The quotes I wanted to use have been posted already, so I’ll just say, damn, I’m sorry to hear he’s dead. He’s one of the all-time great character actors.

Bakersfield! Dude was hardcore.

They were like five hours late and Bob had already turned out the lights. Did they really expect to play?

Seen on Twitter:

“It stinks!”
@JaySherman

He was still around? Man, I liked him on Batman.

Wait…

I didn’t really even know who he was until a couple of weeks ago, when I saw his name on Silence of the Lambs.

We reach.

Oh man! I didn’t realise he did the voice of Sterling Archer’s incompetent cancer doctor and I watched that episode just last week. How could I miss that distinctive voice??
