actually, the birth was quite interesting for those who don’t find such matters too boring/minging. we used hypnosis (with myself as hypnotist - yes, the possibilities for exploitation are numerous) for both births, and a pool this time. as soon as sarah got in, iput her in relaxation and bang, her pulse dropped instantly and the midwife (at a truly excellent midwife-led unit in llandough - i’m telling you, it felt like a luxury private facility but was 100% NHS) had to ask when sarah was having a contraction. she was amazed when i said “just look for the raised finger”. honestly, you’d think she was actually asleep.
After 1 hour like this, she said she wanted to push. 5 minutes later, billy popped out en cowl (ie. with his membrane still intact, like the big ball capturing an escapee in The Prisoner). It was beautiful.
there’s a lot of bullshit in the hypnobirthing course but i’d thoroughly recommend it.
Wow, that is the most amazing story I’ve heard in a long time. Just don’t abuse your Jedi powers or you’ll end up tossed into a bottomless pit or a lake of boiling lava.
Ah, yes … hypnosis for labor is fabulous! Mine didn’t go quite as well as that, but it worked for me with baby #1. Not so much with baby #2, but that’s my own fault.
Congratulations on your new baby boy. But where are the pics?
SM, welcome back and congratulations! It is a fortuitous result of your life being enriched that we are once again enriched with your contributions here. I’ve subscribed to your GD thread and look forward to it unfolding. (Brave of you risk the Near Death Experience onslaught.)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that how happened to little Danny Torrance in The Shining? (the book) It was a sign of second sight and a predictor of his awesome capabilities.
Congratulations! How is the two-year-old taking it? I’m sure that the older sibling will be wanting to carry the baby and pull him out of his crib. (I say him, I’m assuming that Billy is a boy, not short for Wilhelmina.)
