Another weird D.B. Cooper story - the flight attendant

I’m amazed this crime had any effect on the flight attendant. There was no violence directly against her. She didn’t witness a mob hit.

I’ve followed this case since it happened and never gave the flight attendant a second thought. Didn’t know her name. Hard to imagine anyone harassing this lady. I seriously doubt the paparazzi know her name.

Apparently it did have a bad outcome for her. She felt the need to hide in a convent for years. :dubious: She’s out now living under a new name.

Bizarre story. Shame she let something like this ruin her life. It didn’t seem like it traumatized her at the time it happened.

Sounds like this lady was very smart and handled the situation very well.

It’s only your opinion that the incident resulted in a “bad outcome for her” or that “she let something like this ruin her life.”

The story you linked to says:

True… I do find the idea of a life in any religious cult a bit depressing. Especially one where someone is locked behind walls and cut off from the world. That’s just my IMHO

But there was also her name change, and odd reaction to the reporter. It’s like she’s frightened and hiding.

Strange story.

Don’t mean to threadshit, but I don’t see anything strange or bizarre about it. So the woman spent some years in a convent – nothing odd 'bout that, happens all the time. And she avoids attention from journalists – nothing odd 'bout that, either. There could be a hundreds reasons for both of these things other than her being traumatized, “frightened and hiding,” or anything like that.

I don’t think any reasonable religious observer would consider the Carmelite Order to be a part of a cult. As the article says, the women are heavily screened and undergo 6-8 years before permanently choosing cloistered life. If someone changes her mind, she is allowed to resume her secular life.

The article states plainly

Seems clear that some case buffs have no regard for her privacy. If she doesn’t want to talk to some joe about his pet theory, she shouldn’t have to.

There’s nothing odd about her reaction to the reporter. My family having been deemed news worthy a couple of times (locally only) My mother was the only one willing to be interviewed or have pic/video taken.
