I’ve wondered, that with the same factors of the out of control jets, IF they would have struck lower, much lower… would the buildings have toppled like a tree rather than imploded?
IANAEngineer but I would think not. The buildings primary cause for collapse, AFAIK, was that the steel beams actually melted due to prolonged exposure to the fires and gave way. I don’t think the initial impact was enough to bring them down.
