So, my new puppy, despite being perfect in every way, likes to bark when I’m not home.
I know this because I got a note from one of my neighbours saying that he was barking in the morning (of course he never barks when I’m here - currently he’s sleeping with his head in one of the cups of one of my bras.)
Anyhoo - so I got a sonic no-bark colar. Basically, when it’s on and puppy barks it lets out a loud beep. I tested it on him (put him in the kitchen so he couldn’t get out and then hid around the corner.) It seemed to work. He barked. It beeped. He looked a bit startled but didn’t bark anymore. Hopefully it will work.
Also, hopefully it won’t make him demented. The instructions said that it will work when the colar is on, so he can still bark at other times when we’re playing and stuff.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of colar? (I really DIDN’T want to get the shock type colar.)
for your neighbor’s sake. Gawd, I hate listening to dogs bark endlessly! And I like dogs! (And cats, animals in general). Just don’t like owners that are not responsible!!
Good luck with the new collar.
Suggestion: Ask your neighbors if the collar is helping. They will appreciate you trying to fix the problem.
does it work from the sound waves or from the vibrations in his throat? My family used a shock type on our puppy and it did NO good whatsoever - if the sensor got even slightly twisted around on his throat it wouldn’t register the bark, and to keep the collar from moving we would have had to tighten the collar so much it would choke the poor dog. Oh, and even when it was on right, he would just whine (really loudly, I might add… that dog is possessed!), and whining wouldn’t get him a shock.
I think it’s the sound waves. When he barked it went off and the colar is not particularly tight.
Gosh I hope it works. I’ve already spoken to one neighbour who seemed sympathetic (she had noticed the barking as well). It helped that I had puppy with me and he is irresistably cute.
