Search warrants are looked at very closely. If a warrant is issued without cause it will get thrown out on appeal. If the warrant gets thrown out the conviction gets thrown out. One thing judges don’t want is to get their decisions reversed. It’s bad for their career if it happens often. No way a judge will hurt his career for some random cop.

Total bullshit. For one there is generally no picking of labs. For instance all of ours go to the State Police lab. There have been isolated cases of individuals giving bad results due to either bad ethics or lazy work. When it comes to light it destroys the work on hundreds of separate cases. No one wants an innocent person to go to jail. All it would take is for one defendant to get an independent result that differs from the police lab to throw out the results of hundreds of cases. It just doesn’t make logical sense.
