We just cut the cord. We had DirecTV for years. I’ll miss TCM and the YesNetwork the most. But also SyFy channel, Shorts and a few others. One loss is Murdoch Mysteries.
So Acorn has Murdoch Mysteries. Including the latest season and my wife likes the British mystery shows. It is $5.99 per month. I’m wondering if anyone thinks it is worth it overall and if anyone had issues with it.
We always have Prime and use many aspects of it beyond the video part. Also using FireTV with a FireDVR for 60+ local channels. I’ll put up a better antenna in a month or 2.
We have HBOMax included with out phone plan.
I’ll be reactivating Netflix in May. I plan to have it about 5-7 months a year overall.
We have Disney+ currently on their initial pre-launch 3 year deal. That is nearing the end now. Only $4 per month. We’ll probably have that as the alternate to Netflix.
AppleTV looks like a 1 month a year pick up. It just doesn’t have much. We’re finishing up a special 3 month free trial.
I’m very unimpressed with Hulu so far.
Murdoch Mysteries is in my Hulu line up. Hulu also has “New Tricks”, a contemporary British police show that I enjoy, if you are looking for something.
The wife devours both Acorn and BritBox for the British mysteries and comedies.
Tubi is free, and it has a lot of British shows. Antiques Roadshow, Midsomer Murders, Grand Designs, and a lot more. I like French Collection, where three people go to French flea markets, buy old things, fix them up and try to sell them.
We use Tubi already. Also Roku, Hoopla a little. Pluto a little.
We already went through all the good seasons of “New Tricks”
I think we’ll wait a few months and then get Acorn for 2 months to see this year’s Murdoch. It is suppose to be the longest season they’ve had.
Ditto me. (And I’m not married to the notorious Roman emperor.)
If What_Exit doesn’t mind a related hijack, any Acorn vs BritBox preferences? IIRC, the last time I compared the two it just came down to their catalogs…?
Yeah, pretty much the catalog. More to choose from for both, so we got both.
