need answer kind of fast. Someone dumped a table and chair set in my alley. It was made by Penn Table Co. in 1933. The were only open for a few years from 1933 to 1939. Table has a bad finish but no deep scratches or dents. Not positive if the chairs go with the table but they look as if they could. I can’t find anything on line. about this. Wondering if it might be worth refinishing. Looks like solid cherry but could be pecan not positive.
“Worth it” to sell or to use?
Dimensions and photos might help.
You can find some stuff online, some of it with photos, so you can compare to the table you’re interested in. It looks like some of these will bring a few hundred dollars. Probably depends on style and size, as much as on the quality of the refinishing.
If I could sell it quick for a few hundred unfinished it might be worth it to me. The finish is absolutely shot. If I finish it I would want at least 3 grand. I did find some of the chairs online with the same material. I was kind of surprised as they are not that dirty. They would steam clean nicely. I will go back and take some photos. Probably not worth fooling with.
How do they compare with these?
I was a personal property appraiser for 15 years, so I can tell you condition is everything.
I will go back right now and take some photos. I was impressed with the general condition but not the finish.
I decided to pass on it. Can’t download my photos. Anyway
You passed? Oh no! I was going to offer you at least $25M for it. Oh well, too late.
