Well now it’s hard to believe that in a few days’ time it will be October 21, 2015 which is the date that Doctor Emmett Brown and Marty McFly go forward to in the film Back to the Future Part II and in the film Doctor Emmett Brown says “We are decending towards Hill Valley, California at 4.29 pm on Wednesday, October 21st 2015”. and Marty McFly says “2015? You mean we’re in the future?” Yes it is in the future and soon it’ll be in the present and then it’ll be in the past. Hee Hee. I saw somebody wearing a T-shirt with Jaws 19 and October 21st, 2015 on it yesterday but I haven’t seen anything else now. And my user name Dunmurry, is because that’s where they built the DeLoreans! Yes I called it that because I was always very familiar with where the DeLoreans were built as I was born near it in fact and there is a test track where they used to test them before sending the left-hand drive cars off to America and places in America. I might watch the film at the time that it happens in the film. However I suspect that it will be a very surreal experience. So I was just wondering what you are doing. And how you will celebrate this “Red letter day in the history of science” and if you don’t know about that then “You’re not thinking fourth dimensionally” and so perhaps you could tell me about this then.
I’m going to watch the film again. And complain about the lack of flying cars once more.
The way I see it, if you’re going to celebrate the coming of October 21, 2015, why not do it with some style?
You start celebrating just one date because of time travel, you end up celebrating every other fictional date from a time travel movie.
Here in The Hague a couple of movie theaters will be showing the three “Back to the Future” movies back-to-back-to-back.
As to myself, I intend to celebrate my birthday, as I’ve done every year so far
We obviously don’t have flying cars because Marty didn’t hit that Rolls Royce and changed the future. It’s the butterfly effect.
I’m not so bothered by lack of flying cars, since “drivers” where I live are stupid enough in two dimensions. I do want a hoverboard, though.
They are working on it.
I’ll be ordering parts for my electric DeLorean project. (Also probably making jokes and references, and rewatching the movies, but that’s not unusual.)
Hey, Doc, I’m all for that! But what’s wrong with making a few bucks on the side?
Looking for a job. In the present. Like yesterday.
Hopefully, this will arrive in time and I can adapt it to my car.
Universal has put out a trailer for Jaws 19, in honor of BTTF II. I like the way they tiptoe around “Jaws 13”.
The logos are interesting enough to make you curious.
And Pepsi is putting out limited editions of Pepsi Perfect – for less than half the stated $50/bottle:
Here’s CNN on the notable occasion: http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/20/entertainment/back-to-the-future-day-feat/?iid=ob_article_entertainment_pool&iref=obnetwork
Someone in DC put this artistic tribute up last night.
The Cubs are just one game away from being knocked out of the postseason. How awful that would be to happen on the very day Marty saw the billboard claiming they won the World Series.
In honor of the movie, I am celebrating my birthday today. I do it every year. I’m a bit of a hipster, I was actually doing that before the movie even came out.
Actually, the phrase “red letter day in the history of science” was used by Doc to refer to November 5, 1955, the day he hit his head on the toilet and had a brief vision of the Flux Capacitor.
But yeah, I’m just hanging out in the community college’s library, doing some online roleplaying and thinking about the spaghetti I’m gonna cook tonight for us.
The World Series is over by October 21?
What were they thinking?
…says someone who remembers what the baseball community freaked out in 1989 because there was a chance that a World Series game might end up being played in November.
In Southern California, Puente Hills mall (which was the filming location of Twin Pines mall) has several props from the movie set up for the occasion. They’ve got the original sign from the movie plus Doc Brown’s white van and people dressed a la “2015”.
