I’m inclined to agree, especially since one of her fabricated tales of woe involve her being beaten for being too dark-skinned. However, a lot of light-skinned black people do the recreational tanning thing and/or use bronzer. Not to “fool” people, of course, but because they like how they look with brown skin.
But the I’m-a-naturallly-curly-expert thing is a blatant lie. There is nothing natural about her hair. It screams “I have a black fetish!” more than anything else about her
Best description I saw of her was: a lot of spray tan and Sideshow Bob hair.
To me, it’s not that she claims being black and isn’t but add that to her claims of abuse and other irregularities that just plain brand her a liar with a likely psychological problem. Do you want her heading your organization? I think not.

Yes, it’s possible. You could get a perm, or for something temporary, follow one of the tutorials on youtube.
My mom had very thin, very straight black hair(as in color not race heh) that she would get permed and it would come out just like Rachel’s texture.
My mom was copying some long gone style I think, not purposely trying for an afro.
On reading a new article on this case I am convinced this is a case of deteriorating mental imbalance only because this whole thing unraveled when she went to the post office about a threatening letter and they concluded it was never put through the mail system. Then Rachel went to the media complaining about this, and here a reporter decided to do some digging and it all fell apart with the discovery of multiple hate crime reports and it went from there to contacting the parents.
She had absolutely nothing to gain, and everything to lose by insisting the media investigate a hate crime the post office had already found could only have been carried out by someone with her PO box key. Before this no one had ever suspected a thing, what possible scam motive could there be for asking the media to dig into you over a threat you know is fake?
I think she was losing a sense of reality.
I agree. The untruths are so stupid and bizarre that I can’t see how a sane person could come up with them.
I believe Rachael will now marry a black man who will give her a baby more like the one she has portrayed. Who will then go on to be the leader of the NAACP.
The way things are going in this country it will be legal to tell a lie in just twenty more years (2035) after it clears the justice department that is.

At the level she’s done it, it could be called “fraud”. The chances of a very prominent person being convicted is slim but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
For me it mostly makes me feel sad.
If you’ve seen her hair in other pics, it looks a lot more like a perm than it does in that one where she looks the most biracial.
And, of course, after I say that, I have trouble finding the pic where it looked like a perm that was fading.
She did that about ten years ago. Then claimed he was trying to make her live as a white woman. And did this in a documentary about being black.
I do wonder how her son is coping with all of this. By her son I mean her son, not her brother.
I honestly don’t know what to make of it all. To pretend that you’re black, because you believe you’re black even though you were blonde, light-skinned and blue-eyed until adulthood, is one thing. I could almost understand that or at least have sympathy for the person.
But then to represent black people as a black person and talk about being beaten as a kid because you were black and claim that a stranger is your black Dad and your brother is your son and your black husband made you be white and someone else had the key to a PO box where “someone” put race-hate mail and claim to have cancer and claim all sorts of other shit? That’s, just, I, wha? Huh? [short-circuit]
New article: while a student at Howard University, Dolezal sued the university alleging it discriminated against her because she was … White.
Maybe she’ll say it was all a social experiment.
She also lost…which may have become motivation for her to identify as black.

The pictures of Rachel Dolezal as a kid look to me like pictures of a kid who is half black. So much so that I cannot be certain I wouldn’t have thought this even if I hadn’t heard any of her story.
Meanwhile, I see a resemblance to her mom, but no resemblance to her dad.
And that is what I am going to say tonight.
