I have really been enjoying the series of films at BMWFilms.com. Some of them have some pretty amazing filmwork in them, esp the use of the camera in chapter 4 “Star” How the hell did they get the camera to stay with the speeding car so stable and perfectly aligned?
BUT…
What the heck is the sub-plot all about? I can’t seem to piece it all together. There are some internal clues in the films, such as a phone number, and a web address… there may be other subtle clues, but I can’t figure it all out… any insight?
I haven’t really noticed any connective sub-plot. I’ve suggestions of one, but… (shrugs)
My favourite one is the Ang Lee one. The Guy Ritchie one was pretty silly and none of the others really stood out. I just tried watching Powder Keg, it wasn’t available teh last time I was there. I didn’t even finish watching it.
Was there a John Frankenheimer movie? I remember that one was interesting, but still no comparison to Ang Lee’s.
As for camera stability, all I can suggest is a gyroscope or a saddle. I was going to rewatch the video, but my Internet connection just started to suck.
Anal Scurvy:
The sub-plot films are available only by downloading the official BMW Film player and downloading the individual films with it. It’s all free, and the player offers DVD like features. Using the player to download the films may take awhile, but it’s worth it. Once you download a film, it’s yours to keep. It is far better than using the streaming web video. You can download high quality full screen video. The BMW Film Player also offers directors commentaries.
